I am white. I was hit by a white woman on a bicycle. It was her fault (I was in my car stopped at a traffic light). She flipped out and threatened to call the cops. I actually did call the police because her bike damaged my car and I was worried that she might have hit her head. It wasn’t racial; she was just a lunatic. (She told the police officer that she was just upset because she was late for her therapy appointment.)

Add birding to the list of things you can't do while black. He's a well-known birder and she had her dog off-leash in an area of the park where the rules said to leash your dog. He politely asked her to leash her dog, and started filming when she went ballistic.

It's not baiting to ask someone to obey leash laws in an area set aside for birdwatching. It's like asking people to take their dog out of the gated kiddie playground. Listen to the video. When she calls the cops, she mentions that he's an "AFRICAN AMERICAN" man FOUR TIMES. Her voice gets panicky when she's on the call, then flips back. She knows EXACTLY what she's doing: pushing the "help cops there's a black man threatening a white woman" button as hard as she can. She was knowingly exposing this man to a much higher risk of death because of his race. That's why she's a racist, and why this encounter was different.

In other words, if she was going bananas on a white man, do you think she would've mentioned four times to the cops that he was white?

She made it racial, and was fine with the fact that she was putting him in danger. It's just different. It could only have played out this way because of her awareness of her power in the situation. The two people were not on equal footing.

It's like when serial harassment happens at work. It's gross when a coworker does it, absolutely. It's gross on a whole other level when someone in a position of authority does it, for compounding reasons.
