Hey, changing "VP of House" to "Vice President of House" is very important!

Actually there is more money to be made during the summer through camps than through club fees and such.

The kids who play, some of whom started out in ODSL and are now on CCL teams, would disagree with you.

HAHAHAHHA!!!!

OK, lets take the money from 12 parents for a 4th team because 1 kid battled against all odds and made it to the SHOW, the BIG TIME, YES C C L!!!!

Curious...do you think that any club with a 4th team is a money grab or just Vienna? I look at Arlington and their 4th team has some good players, but their club is huge so maybe it's justified. What are your thoughts?

From U9-U12 less so as these teams ideally merge when they go to 11v11.

But a third or fourth 11v11 team? absolutely a money grab.

The money grab part really depends upon the actual talent level of the player pool. A properly run "challenge" house league should suffice for most of those 4th team and beyond kids though. Perhaps work them into practices with the travel team on a regular basis would be good too.

But most of U little ODSL is pretty bad and there needs to be a proper hybrid model that is bridges the gap in terms of competition and price.

It isn't a money grab if the kids are getting something out of it. (Either training or the enjoyment of playing league games)

Why do these coaches need to charge $240/hour. Is this a money grab or are they trying to improve the quality of the kids for the sake of improving the quality of the kids. I understand paying some random trainer $20/hour but a club trainer? Frustrating. And 4 sessions? Whatever.

What do you propose the cost should be? Simple solution for you is to just not pay it. Like PP said there are factors that go into it. This includes cost of fields, paid staff, etc. Good luck finding a reputable trainer for $20 per hour unless you plan on doing it with multiple kids. Also compare it to other supplemental training programs that are out there such as Joga, HP Elite, AAP and I think you'll find the cost pretty reasonable, although I wouldn't expect the training to be as quality as those.

HP Elite expensive. AAP is expensive. I agree. That training is very good. Joga is like $12/hr. I think. And yes, I'm sure the quality of this program will be nowhere that intense, so apples and oranges. Another local club provides additional training in a supplemental development program for U7s and U8s. I think it's eight 90-minute sessions for $75 a kid. I just think the club should invest in these U littles a bit and not try to make money on them. Make money on the older kids.

You can't compare HP Elite, AAP, and Joga to this training and Joga is less than $20 hour. The other two are more. But...what are these coaches going to do...play What Time is it Mr. Wolf and do pull backs. Same old VYS training for U8s.

Yeah, $80 seems a bit high for four sessions. But it's not $240 going into the coach's pocket. Fairfax County can't pass a meals tax or raise real-estate taxes, so we'll eventually end up paying our teachers competitive wages by paying for field space in solid gold soccer balls.

Fields cost, equipment, game referees insurance...
Are we playing with solid gold cones and balls?

Very cool if they did. But I foresee many foot injuries from the solid gold soccer balls.
