Gonzaga and Bullis each went 5 - 1. Gonzaga defeated Bullis in the championship bracket 8 - 5.
O'Connell went 4 - 2 wins today over Westlake (TX) and St Thomas Aquinas (FL)
Landon went 2 - 4 and struggled on Sunday losing to Gilman and Hingham (MA)
Paul VI went 3 - 3 and lost to Mercer Island (WA) and defeated Highland Park (TX)
EHS went 2 - 4 and lost to Spalding and St Paul's
St Albans went 2 - 4 and won twice today over Lake Highland (FL) and Woodbery Forrest (VA)

Gonzaga was the best team this weekend in this group with Bullis next.

Out of all the DC area teams that participated this weekend, I was most impressed with Gonzaga. They super athletic and moved the ball well offensively.

Bullis could be in trouble as their best player from last year is transferring back home for his senior season, they do have some younger studs though.

Landon looks very young but I wouldn’t count them out in the IAC.

Bishop Occonnell might turn some heads next Spring, not just in the Catholic league but in the greater DC area. Episcopal also looked impressive for their standards and for a boarding school who probably hasn’t practiced at all since the season ended.

PVI and SJC looked very down for what they have been the past two seasons.

All in all, love the format of the NHSL. Love seeing kids compete with their high school programs vs watching club ball.

Landon went 2 - 2 and did not make the championship bracket. Landon is learning to play without Joey E and it has been a positive 2 days.
Gonzaga and Bullis each went 4 - 0 and play each other in the championship bracket Sunday morning.
Episcopal and Paul VI went 2 - 2
St Johns 1 - 3.
St Albans 0 - 4

GPrep and SSSA play in the smaller tournament Sunday - Tuesday.

EHS graduates its best player ever. That team was a one man show for the last 4 years. And now is a no-man show.

St Albans graduates 2 key offensive players and 2 key defensive players. There should be enough rising talent to fill the offensive gaps. Cannot say the same for defense. Even with their star FOGO, St Albans will lose games by double-digits.

SSSA loses its entire set of goalies, all enormously talented, as well as the stars of their offensive and defensive lineup. Unless they find a goalie, it's going to be a rebuilding season in 2019.

Bullis loses the best player on the team. The coaching drama continues.

That leaves Prep. Prep at the top of the IAC in 2019. Eveyone else fighting to stay out of the bottom.

Landon looked good at the NHSLS yesterday. How did Bullis and the others look?

Their rankings are complete and utter crap. They make zero sense and are totally wrong because they use bad metrics - e.g. they dont take into account the quality of opponents..

Also, I've noticed that half the time scores aren't put in and player data is erroneous.

Not sure, but I think they were posted to show you can find a ranking to suit your needs.

If ending up ranked 24th in the Nation is a "down year" for HS standards, you are crazy.

Landon has always been terrible at basketball, except for a 4-year run where they had 3 high-level D1 players playing together on the court.

I think it was a down year definitely when you have the pre-season (arguably) #1 player in the nation, a bunch of other d1 kids and a legendary coach in his last season.

And isn't that the point in comparing basketball and lacrosse at Landon? For a few years, the sport was emphasized and then coaching changes were made and the program went straight down. Let's see what happens with lax.

As for Landon and Bordley, it was painfully obvious the lack of Shockey at faceoff led to a very down year for players and coaches. We'll see if the lacrosse team goes the same way as the basketball team.

Bullis won IAC in 2016 with different assistants so i would not get too excited by the ‘turmoil’

Prep’s head coach had virtually no head coaching experience previously so underperformance not a total surprise. Agree it is well known that the best talent is not necessarily playing due to alumni favors...which is how you end up at 9-9.

Landon had a lot of losses, but made it to the IAC championship. I wouldn't call it a very down year. But Bordley should have retired last year after going undefeated.

Can't speak for all the IAC teams but for GP I did notice a lot of alumni kids getting way too much undeserved playing time. This might help with fundraising but led to 9-9. Some of their player combinations were really odd.

Bullis will continue to remain strong regardless of their coaching situation. They have committed to bringing in senior and junior transfers to remain at the top, the administration is fully behind this.

Episcopal's program is on the rise, despite the loss of the football kid going to Stanford. STA's program has certainly improved since the arrival of the new coach, they beat Landon this Spring for the first time in 10 plus seasons.

While St. Stephens might have graduated a very strong senior class, I suspect they are rebuilding in 2019 and will be back in the "thick" of things in 2020 campaign. The Saints have a very good coaching staff.

The only program that doesn't seem to be living up to their expectations in the IAC is Georgetown Prep. When you have by far the largest male enrollment by a good margin, GP should be at the top of the league year in and year out.

I don't see things changing in the WCAC, other than Gonzaga, PVI and SJC battling it out for the top.
