It seems like he was in denial about the risks. I wonder if you have to have a bit of feeling of invincibility/ego to have to courage to volunteer to be a doctor in West Africa. It's almost like their strengths could be their weaknesses in terms of a self-quarantine (e.g. I am different/too careful/too good, etc., it won't happen to me.)

Yeah. The CNN article states that he had been feeling "sluggish" for a few days. So, a doctor, who has just returned from treating ebola patties and knows better than anyone how the disease is spread, starts feeling under the weather and thinks "Oh, bowling is a great idea!" Was he bring selfish, is he stupid, or was he completely in denial? I don't really see any other options.

Or, he knows a lot about the disease and knows that when they say that people must be "symptomatic" to shed the virus, they mean measurable symptoms like fever or diarrhea which he didn't have last night.

My understanding is that IMF has cancelled their travel to W Africa.
