Everyone “defending” them here has said they might be jerks AND it was a mutually beneficial relationship. That’s just too much nuance for an Internet forum apparently.
Nothing mutually beneficial in the conservatorship. There was an extreme advantage to the Tuohys and they were terrible conservators. They didn’t even do their basic annual filing of finances. Even the Spears family had the sense to do the money filing.
They didn’t use it. So he can sue them for being jerks I guess? But he doesn’t seem to have suffered by playing for an incredible pro team and making millions.
You’re either being intentionally dense or flat out lying. Leigh Anne constantly talks about Michael and adoption. She talks more about Michael than her own bio son which is crazy because the Tuohy lawyer says they have been estranged for about 10 years.
Not PP but no that injunction will not happen. You can’t stop someone from using your name the way they use his. Sorry. That is not NIL. Now if their kfc’s had Oher’s name then sure. But in a no -profit way, no.
On the accounting it is just going to say zero. That will stick.
The press this has gotten is going to end their abuse of his story/name. No one is going to pay or support them given the stink that surrounds them now.

They’ve used his NIL constantly for the past 20 years to promote themselves.
Is she not allowed to talk about her experience? She was there too.
The weird ass and unethical conservatorship they’ve had on him for nearly 20 years allows them to use his NIL.
But he’s within his right to ask the court to revoke it and further bar the family from using his NIL.
Where are you getting this?
Go back and read the terms of the conservatorship. They can enter into contract on his behalf at their sole discretion. Clearly this would be inclusive of using his NIL.
What I want to know: why did the Touhy’s break the law every year by not updating the court on the status of the conservatorship?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I was on the fence on who to believe but have seen that Michael wrote in his 2011 memoir that he definitely KNEW that he had signed conservator papers…..not adoption papers as he is now claiming.
So I am compelled to believe he is broke now & looking to get some $$.
Nah. The Tuohys who never filed the expected paperwork regarding the conservatorship better come up with some answers.
Did you read the conservatorship papers? It spelled out that he had no mental or physical defects or disabilities yet they allowed the false narrative that he is intellectually disabled. It also allowed them access to all his medical information all this time. Creepy.
Let’s talk about why they never ended the conservatorship. It gave them control over every facet of his life. They have access to all his medical info. The amount of control they gave themselves was unnecessary even then when Michael was 18. This speaks volumes about them.
You have to go to court to end a conservatorship. Michael has to go to court to end it. Saying it again for the people in the back - Michael has to go to court to terminate this conservatorship. The Tuohys could have ended it at any time yet they didn’t.
What would happen if the Tuohys went to court to end it like normal people would have done? It would have gotten press and they would be exposed as the lying liars they are just as is happening now. I doubt they would ever petition the court to end it unless forced.
You can try and smear Oher all you want but the fact remains that Oher had to file to end this conservatorship and the Tuohys were never going to.
They can’t. This has been explained before. Him filing is exactly how it works.
You seem clouded by racism.

Do you not understand what a conservatorship is? This is how the Tuohys were able to use Michael Oher's NIL while he was still playing at Ole Miss. Prior to the new NIL rules an NCAA athlete could not profit from their NIL so the conservatorship was the work around for the book and movie deal. He graduated Ole Miss in spring of 2009 but the movie deal was made in 2006 and released Nov 2009.
But it hasn’t been used since that time. Nothing they have done since the movie involves his NIL in the sense of him needing to sign away rights.

This would be an unconstitutional restriction of their 1A rights. It would never ever ever EVER happen.
Ever.
The Tuohy's are lying about Michael being adopted. I definitely think a judge can prevent them from making money spreading a harmful lie. He was never adopted.

Michael is a public figure. The details of his story with the Tuohys were made public in a book and film before Leigh Anne starting her speaking tour or whatever she does. This situation might be different if he was a private individual.
This. If there were any legal basis for this theory of harm, he wouldn’t have had his previous lawyers drop him.
The Tuohy's lawyer said that but there's no evidence he's been dropped by numerous attorneys.
It seems as if you believe all the Tuohy allegations against Oher but none of the Oher allegations against Tuohy.
