Better watch it dems.
That's very helpful. Thank you for your contribution.
Clearly a republican sock puppet. If we are heading into austerity we know who is responsible and it’s not Dems.
The dems are 100% at faults for all cuts. Here is Biden’s and democrats bargaining position. We agree to all the cut just please do not make the cuts too big. The republicans control the house but the democratic senate and the president have capitulated to the J6’ers.
Hey democrats you were voted in office to fight for democratic issues not to help the republicans cut those programs.
Seriously what is the point voting democrat when they just roll over? What were the democratic negotiators asking for-immigration reform, gun control, reform of SCOTUS? No the dems went in to the “negotiations” ask what programs can we cut and by how much.
This is a total and complete win for the McCarthy.
Do you mean Kevin McCarthy who needed 15 rounds of voting to be Speaker?! The man is incapable of a total and complete win. Lol.
I am not a Kevin McCarthy fan but you are blind if you can not see how this is a win for Kevin McCarthy and the republicans. The man who took 15 rounds of voting for speaker just forced the democrats to cut to a trillion dollars from the budget and the republicans gave up nothing. They were not even in budget negotiations.
Oh look McCarthy is now in meeting with the president, his sound bites are all over the news, he is equal to the president. Looks like he has a lot of credibility and solidified his position as house speaker.
What exactly do the democrats win here? How is this a win for the democrats?
I dont think Dems are looking for a “win.” They know MAGA are happy to blow up economy. They are looking for path forward. If ppl are upset the “Dems caved” then organize & donate so we get the House back and keep Senate & WH in 2024.
Sorry, sometimes good is good enough.
Lol that and oh we need 60 votes should be the democrats campaign slogan in 2024. It is interest that every time the republicans win control of a chamber they act. Democrats never do anything and alway have excuses. It is time for a change.
I am too deeply disappointed to vote or donate to the dems. They will just roll over and give the republicans every they want. Look at Roe v. Wade. They have done nothing. Roe v. Wade was alway the excuse given to not let a simple majority vote in the senate. Now Roe v. Wade is gone but the 60 vote requirement remains.

Because he is really trying to negotiate a deal. Negotiating in the media is posturing, not negotiating.
I guess I remember Clinton and Obama posturing all the time and coming out on top more times than not. Meanwhile, Biden is about to negotiate away his only legislative accomplishment
Clinton did not posture while he was negotiating big deals with Lott and Gingrich in 1996. He let them pretend they won. Obama did not successfully negotiate anything significant with Republicans.

What’s he going to sell? He has already agreed to a trillion dollars in cuts. Do not know over what time period that is but why would he want to sell that?

If you’re in social security between 70-80 years old you can work a 10 hours a week, it wil be good for your health and for this nation.
If you’re on welfare you should work 25 hours a week, if you need childcare it will be provided for free
If you’re on SSI you can work at any McDonald’s and you will get free meals
You know it costs more to oversee and enforce those work requirements than it costs to have them, right? I don't necessarily disagree with you but it's kind of stupid to ignore that there are real costs associated with this and they mostly outweigh the benefits.

On top of that all the parties have agreed and said on the record they will not allow a default. So why are the democrats negotiating away their programs? Biden said today he has agreed to a trillion dollars in cuts and he got nothing.
Because default is not an issue, unless Biden tells the Treasury Secretary to not make the debt payments.
This is about whether they want to borrow more money.
So without a debt ceiling increase, Dems lose trillions of dollars in spending, whatever the current deficit is.
With a debt ceiling increase, Dems get to spend more money, whatever Republicans agree to.
Their leverage is Biden can blame them for any problems, as he chooses what programs to spend on to stay within the debt limit.
'Because Republicans won't raise the debt ceiling, Social Security checks might not go out.'
