Do you know what a screen grab is? I guess not: it’s when your internet connected device takes a picture of whatever is on your screen. So these tweets and facebook posts are screen grabs of people’s own pages where they spout their disinformation nonsense. Then someone has coupled these with the announcement of the person’s death. On reddit you can usually find the person’s name. I, too, was skeptical of some of these, but most of the time you can go look up the person’s name and find their obituary at the funeral home they’re using. Surprise! Disinformation killed these stupid people. Us telling you that isn’t disinformation.
I have looked them up too. You know you can fake an obit page, right? Always look at the URL and do some digging from there. Forgive me, I forgot Reddit and Democratic Underground as sources of disinformation.
If I wanted to, I could take someone’s obit, who died of cancer let’s say, create a gofundme and FB, etc. writing up all sorts of sob story items to get people to donate and attribute that death to the cause du jour.
