The local decisions (level III) are on the tail end. Level IV appeals decisions are listed as being mailed on 6/1 by the central office.

I just checked the mail. Nothing from FCPS.

You score does not meet the bench mark, chances are not very good. My child has WISC full scale -- 134 - very superior GBRS 10, was not eligible.

Disagree. My child's full scale was 130. I can't recall specifically, but the VCI and PRI were in the mid-high 120's, working memory was high 140's and Processing speed was in the 115 range.

There is no bright line... But many consider 130 to be gifted (it qualifies you for a membership in Mensa!) and you are right there. I'd think with a good GBRS you'd have a good chance.

WOw...I googled this because I didn't believe you. I'm surprised it is so low. I think there is a good chance with a 129. There is no "benchmark" for an IQ test (like a bright line) though generally it is above a 130).

It's the local score that is turned in.. My children also had that same gap..

When people are reporting CogAt scores, are they reporting local composite scores or age/grade scores? Does central AAP care about age/grade scores or local scores? I'm asking because my daughter had a 10-point discrepancy between age/grade and local scores (96 percentile based on age, 94 percentile based on grade, and 86 percentile based on local rank). We appealed with a high WISC so just wondering about CogAt...Thanks!

PP of the kid in question. The psychologist wrote a letter of approx three paragraphs. We had to travel off the beaten path because our kid is bilingual (fairly uncommon second language in FCPS) and we wanted him tested by a psychologist who spoke both languages.

Were the 3 paragraphs all about AAP admission or a reference in the 3 paragraphs about AAP admission? The latter is very normal. The former in a WISC written report would be...well...odd.

I'm not sure I understand the question, but I think it's the latter. I'm paraphrasing here, but the letter more or less said based on our kid's WISC scores, test results, her observations, etc, she recommends he be in a full-time AAP center, which is not offered at our base school. The psychologist also noted some other issues that we need to address with the school and referenced those in the letter. She went into a little more detail, I suspect, because there was a variation in one of the subscores that probably had something to do with one of the above mentioned issues and we will be looking into that further.
