They also say they are doing this to get health care subsidies. That it is all worth it to let people know they fought for health care.
I thought it was the Republicans that were shutting things down?
They want credit if you like the shutdown, and blame cast on Republicans if you don't like the shutdown.
Who likes the shutdown? I have not heard one person (other than Russell Vought) say this.
Well Trump himself was just short of rubbing his hands together and cackling with glee saying shit like "well gee the Democrats are forcing me to permanently fire people and get rid of agencies" so he clearly wants it - and is lying about being "forced" to permanently get rid of anything by anyone. It's entirely his choice and it's never before happened as a result of a shutdown. No shutdown in US history ever "forced" the President to permanently fire anyone let alone eliminate agencies. Historically, they just resumed work once funding was restored. He's looking to lawlessly do that entirely on his own and is lying about it to give himself cover.
Yes it is his choice. A choice that Democrats do not like, and Republicans like. There is no funding so he can choose to fire people and eliminate agencies. And Democrats are letting it happen by voting no.
So why are Republicans in Congress even passing this CR?
Trumps could (and did) do it regardless of what the Democrats do/did. Trump made the rule to do it, so he will own it. If the Dems caved, Trump would/could STILL do it — AND get what he wants with regard to the budget.

Trump tweeted celebrating Vought. Also all Republicans in Congress are happy about Vought and the shutdown because they’re in power and could change the situation very easily!

The Dems could careless are about the Epstein files, Trump putting US military in the streets of blue cities, blowing up innocent fishermen, Trump and his family’s corruption, ICE’s Criminal activities, the FBI arresting elected democrats officials, masked men abducting people off the street, etc.
The Dems want to help ease the pain for maga and keep rural hospitals open? Sounds like a win for Trump.
Did the Dems think this through?
If democracy is in Jeopardy why don’t the democrats act like it is?

Was passing legislation in a Senate that requires 60 votes for final passage of a budget with 51 votes thru reconciliation smart?
Maybe this whole "bi-partisan" thing has some merit. That or the GOP should just change the rules like they have other times when it suited them.
Look what the democrats are asking for will help Trump in the midterms. I really hope the Dems fold and don’t get anything…even a fake deal. Please Dems just fold.
