See ya, Pete. Hope Fox takes you back.
DeSantis would be a great choice. No one can argue that he isn't eminently qualified (though no doubt, DCUM's finest will do just that).
I’m a liberal who thinks DeSantis is a blowhard….but he’s 100x better than Hegseth. And he will easily get confirmed. Does Ron want it? It will also elevate the Lt Gov to Gov and make her a front runner in 2026
DeSantis would be a moron to take the job. Trump would fire him within a year and his political career would be done.
Agreed. I don’t know why they announce these potential appointments without asking the potential nominee first if they want the job. I can’t see how this would be a good move for DeSantis.
DeSantis is term limited, so his governorship is over next year. I guess he could put a dedicated place-holder in Rubio's seat and then run for the Senate seat in 2026, but what are DeSantis' other political plays.

The former head of his organization has now clarified he left due to different of opinion on direction. There were zero issues with his conduct. Why was that not in any of these articles? That is what should stand. His marriage in 2018 is not an issue. He has a bad divorce like 50 percent of country. His mom doing interview today was helpful because nowhere was it reported that she apologized for the inital email two hours later. She was upset he was getting divorced and has said that years later he is happy and in a great marriage. Somehow that was not included in any of these articles out there. Not that his marriage is anyone’s business. Low blow for anyone to leak initial email fyi. Senators should not allow smears to affect their thinking of him as a candidate. Hegseth will be a Sec of Defense who puts our soldiers first and cares about their well being. He also is not a fan of endless wars. This is a good thing.
You’re ridiculous but here’s the thing about military leadership. Optics matter. Live your live in such a way that no one can even make these accusations.
Exactly. It’s funny how many millions of men (white men!) don’t have a single “false” accusation against them. Haven’t been “maligned” by people out to get them.
You actually have no idea about this. But it does seem that handsome men in public positions often have “allegations” come out as they start to gain power/popularity or especially if they are taking a political position. Coincidence?
1. Most do not have these type of allegations come out.
2. It is the fact they put themselves in the spotlight that leads to major news sources picking up on these allegations. They were always there, and there is plenty of evidence in that in Hegseth’s case.
The better question is why do these men with so many skeletons in their closet put themselves in a position where the skeletons will clearly come out?

You can see photos of him with his first wife. He's mentioned A LOT in the yearbook - just do a keyword search for "Hegseth"
Going through the guys HS yearbook is creepy.

As I told my mom this morning: DeSantis suuuucks but he is 100000x better than Hegseth. He is terrible but not unqualified. He doesn't seem to have a long history of drunkenness and troubling, to put it mildly, relationships with women. He has experience running a large bureaucracy and people - not me, but other people - being happy with his job.
Sort of like going from Gaetz to Pam Bondi - certainly no one I'd ever choose for the job but definitely a big trade up. He should be confirmable and he'd probably do a competent job.
+1. I’d prefer a pick that has actual military or foreign policy experience but DeSantis is at least somewhat normal. yes it’s a low bar in Trumpworld.
