I don't see a scenario where Putin COULD stop without losing face and looking weak. My guess is he wants to reestablish the former USSR. It is terrifying. I'm sure the name Chamberlain has been invoked myriad times this month.

It was not false. Biden negotiated away those 2 regions several months ago. The Biden/Putin plan was always to let Russia have those 2 regions.

Trump had zero coherent plan for Afghanistan. Had he been responsible for the withdrawal, it would have been even more rushed, with even less planning. And worse yet, he said he would have destroyed the Afghan National Army's equipment, meaning an even bigger betrayal and even faster collapse to the Taliban.
