No but the time to do it is during budget negotiations not when it’s time to pay the debt. It’s like if you and your spouse bought your weekly groceries on credit and then didn’t pay the bill. You agreed that weekly groceries should be a certain amount, charged them, and then said you shouldn’t have bought our groceries.

How about we talk about NOT cutting revenue (taxes) and while increasing spending? Republicans have been pulling this trick for years as a political wedge.

The only way this is win for the democrats would be a default.
This would most likely result in KM losing the speakership. The hardcore right wing house members would fight among them selves. 15- 30 republicans house members would join the democrats and elect Hakeem Jeffries as speaker. Jeffries would quick raise the debt ceiling. Dems would control the house.
