Felicity Huffman is facing federal charges for faking a 1420 on the SAT's? A 1420.
I’m be embarrassed to claim the kid who needed to cheat just to get that score as my own.

Not the way affirmative action is being done today where professional black families are getting the benefit. I say economic affirmative action is what is needed -poverty knows no race - help every kid that needs it
Yes, affirmative action is terrible unless whites can benefit. A principled stance.
Professional black families? You mean the ones that are working their way up the past few generations of poor racial inequality from the previous generations that came from slavery. How dare they? Why should they have any benefits?Geez. Only whites from enherited riches of past generations should get benefits. Working professionals of color? They are lucky they have a job, right PP. Those poor white kids with meth parents deserve it more because they are white and poor. I mean, do you reread what you type?
Talk about being in a state of cognitive dissonance.
DP: are you on meth?
No, I am a while woman that is not a racist. I am a white woman who is going to do everything in my lifetime to make any minority try and feel welcomed and equal in my presence and call out people that don’t do the same. I am a white woman who knows I have privilege in this world JUST because I was born white. Is it my fault I am white? No. Are minorities upset that I am white? No. Is it my duty to understand that being white comes with privilege that others do not have yet, even in 2019? Yes. Are minorities upset that white people don’t understand their own privilege? Yes. Are minorities upset that they feel left alone to battle for their rights and never understood by most whites who claim they are not racist? Yes.
It is not enough to just not be racist anymore. It is 2019 people. We need to do more. Just like people of wealth are supposed to help the poor, but really don’t want to. “I enherited or earned that money!” So They usually pay more wealthy lawyers and accountants to rig it so they don’t pay much taxes. Most white people dont want to fight for equality and justice, because they already have it and try to rationalize that black people have it now too. They don’t and it can’t just be them fighting for themselves. They need allies. People that are cognitively aware. Are white people nervous when their son is walking on a street or driving a car? Probably not. But every single black mother is. “Professional or not” Could you imagine that fear? I honestly can not. But I try. I try to understand. That is all most black people are asking. I mean like that is it. It isn’t much, but yet most white people can not do it. It is really sad once you “wake up.”
And for you entitled whites here screaming about “affirmative action is not fair” are just ignorant. So ignorant. I am not racist but.... NO, you ARE. You are somehow turning it around that it is not fair for you. YOU. Instead of thinking this is the least we can do and even (gasp) How can I do more?
So sorry, not on meth. Just trying to be a nice educated person who wants to use her privilege as a positive to help others. And if it means going on a rant here instead of watching This Is Us - and going all off topic, so be it. It just really bothers me that there are people out there that have somehow turned this entitled, white, rich ILLEGAL issue into a minority LEGAL issue. Only in America, sadly.
No, I grew up where people were discriminated based on color of their skin and affirmative action was used to right a wrong but instead created an entitled generation and did not help those who really needed it, the poor. Unless you know what it feels like to be discriminated against and can’t get a helping hand to break out of the poverty cycle because most people of your race were rich (not my family), you don’t know what it is like. We are not numbers - we are individuals. I am all for economic diversity. The rich Hispanic or black families do not need a helping hand - a kid of ANY race who is poor and need help to break out of poverty and be exposed to another world needs our help.
Sigh, You just don’t get it. Ignorance. Rationales. It just fuels hate and jealousy.
Pell grants are for the poor. Many need blind schools are for the poor. No one is denying poor kids who thrive an education.

I am concerned VERY concerned about the value of her USC degree doing down. This makes the school look like it’s pay to play and the only thing that matters is money.

They are comparable because weight loss through diet/exercise is something that you actually have to work for. Test prep is literally available to all students - FREE - through Kahn Academy. Some students take advantage of it, some don't.
Cheating is not the same thing as test prep.
If Kahn Academy test prep is equivalent, why are people paying so much for private test prep and tutors?

Sources familiar with the arrest claim that the agents drew their weapons and ordered Felicity to come out of her house and surrender. Huffman and the rest of her family were asleep when the agents showed up.
Those close to the actress say she knew her arrest was imminent and would have surrendered on her own, but the feds didn't want to wait. FBI insiders told TMZ guns were "drawn as a precaution. It's always left to the agents' discretion whether to draw a firearm during an arrest."

Bond set at $250,000 for her.
Mossimo Giannulli (Lori Loughlin's husband) bond set at $1,000,000!
Good. These people think they above the law.
I know that the next crop of celebrities will be thinking twice about bribery for their no-talent offspring to get into good schools.
Courtney Cox has a 14-year-old and I'm pretty sure she'll be telling her straight to her face - get the grades or you're going to community college because I'm not going to jail for you.
This case is about more than just Hoffman and Loughlin, its about setting an example.

Excellent post, but you already know it will fall on deaf ears. Whites are financially, emotionally and culturally invested in white supremacy. The #1 lie of white supremacy is that whites are naturally meritorious.
It may be legal to pledge $2.5 million to Harvard just as your son is applying — which is what Jared Kushner’s father did for him — and illegal to bribe a coach to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, but how much of a difference is there, really? Both elevate money over accomplishment. Both are ways of cutting in line.
It may be legal to give $50,000 to a private consultant who massages your child’s transcript and perfumes your child’s essays, and illegal to pay someone for a patently fictive test score, but aren’t both exercises in deception reserved for those who can afford them?
