I am a parent at Barca. A lot of negative stuff that was posted is total nonsense and the parents with kids in the program know that it is not true.

This is my favorite soccer thread. I love hearing how many ways Barca will Make American soccer Great Again!
Again?
Yes, when was US men’s soccer ever great?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:WTF? This thread has close to 35,000 'views'. Nothing close to it elsewhere, barring the main 'travel soccer' thread. There are only 400 kids in the program--so there is some fascination or curiosity.

Anonymous wrote:^^^^. Have you even read the contents of those threads? The first looks very similar to this one. Those who post with less than stellar reviews are vilified, some posters are virtual adverstising machines, the accusations that anyone with negative comments must be working for other clubs or lying. The difference is that the open bashing of other clubs happens in the same FCB thread in Texas, vs the way it happens here with various topics raised in other threads to bash the competition more discreetly. I guess they have larger cajones in Texas. Quite a few posters there also have a much better handle on the business side of things than most in this thread.
Definitely worth a read for those wanted to compare notes with info from another area and just the tactics used in these threads in general.

+100, pass the popcorn
All this self-congratulation is indeed pretty hilarious.
I particularly love the definitive statements, like "Any product that generates such strong feelings is going to do well.", “It’s the best we can pay for here in the States; ”If they continue doing what they are currently doing, I can see them getting DA boys status in a couple of years”.
I have not seen anything like that on the other soccer threads. Barca is indeed special.
You must not have spent much time on other threads. Did you miss the ugly exchange been Loudoun parents and former Loudoun parents that left for Spirit? Or McLean vs Arlington discussion? My personal favorite is Loudoun vs FCV discussion, if you really want to have a good laugh. The stuff on this tread is pretty tame compared to the other threads.

That's not really surprising, is it? I'd expect there are at least a couple of factors at play. It is common for people to search for "la Masia", "Barca" and "FCB" and may click on this link if it comes up. Also, any thread that falls into the "DCUM fight club" category will attract viewers. I am completely hooked on the lacrosse and private school boards for that reason, though my kids go to public schools and don't play lacrosse.
