I hadn't heard that. Where in Loudoun? We were considering DC United's DA for our son for next year, but that's too far to go.

this is the article. I assume the final move is still about 2 years out. Looks like it still needs final approval.

Does anyone know anything about DCU doing anything at George Mason's facilities? I thought that was supposed to happen.

I find the Leesburg location interesting given what opened out there recently.

Why is a team last place in the MLS getting a second team and brand new facility? Don't they have trouble filling one stadium?

Stay with NVSC, they have a partnership with D.C. United. If your son's good enough, he will get noticed and could find himself playing for their academy down the road anyways. At his age the most important thing is he grows in a clearly defined position/role that fit his technical abilities and playing style. NVSC is a good club and it seems like it's easier logistically on you as a parent, right now.

Too bad this won't happen in 2018...my son is hoping to play DA (U12) next fall, but if the local DA team has the same coach...no freaking way, staying w/nvsc

They sponsor the Battlefield Tournament and their CCL and Super Y teams, if I'm not mistaken.

I thought D.C. United was already farming on NVSC

So maybe Loudoun will merge with DC United ? There definitely needs to be some consolidation in the amount of clubs around here.

And of course my children would go to those courts and play after school, assuming they would like to do so. No, I was not making any point about their coaching or travel teams other than that they are pretty damned good. They also host a great futsal tourney but that is nothing unique - most clubs have their teams doing leagues during winter.

Their boys teams are OK, and some are quite good. The girls teams not so much. Most girls with aspirations beyond HS soccer leave by U14.

Alexandria (city) has already been doing this.

Ok, just because your city is doing this doesn't mean in the DC area, everyone is doing this. No kid in Falls Church thinks, "hey guys, let's take a metrobus to Alexandria to play in their parks!". Just about every public park for children has some kind of basketball-like court, I hope one day soccer attains this level of popularity.

Some guys play futsal on a tennis court at Lee Rec Center. I don't think they have goals -- just shirts plopped down to mark goals.

I see, I think soccer and clubs as a pair has been ingrained within us so much that we can't think of one without the other. The Alexandria club would, in my opinion, have nothing to do with the Alexandria city constructing futsal courts. There are actually no fields that I know of that are open to the public exclusively. They are all reserved by some program or club during the popular after-school hours. I recall seeing a bunch of teenagers show up to one of three fields my DS club has a couple months ago to play under the lights. A half of that field goes unused while the other two are filled with club teams practicing. The lights go off about 15 minutes after practice ends, however.
