If any? There better be multiple. The driver AND the parents that had the party.

If any - yes. That is why we have an investigation -- to determine the facts.
This is standard language before charges are actually filed. Don't get your panties in a bunch over a non issue.

If any - yes. That is why we have an investigation -- to determine the facts.

The police determined the following facts almost immediately:
1. Two people were killed.
2. The driver was illegally drinking alcohol and speeding.
3. They were illegally given alcohol by a parent at a party.

Very soon after, it was discovered that the driver had an established history of illegal drinking and ongoing problems with the law.

And since then, (warning: I shall speculate here, PP) what has happened?
Political maneuvering to drastically reduce or eliminate any consequences for the driver and the parent who gave the alcohol to the underaged drinkers.
We shall see...

I highly doubt it. I know the police doing the investigation. I don't doubt their integrity at all.

I certainly hope my speculation is dead wrong.

Here is the whole article. I assume that it means exactly what it says.

Police Near Completion of Investigation into Deadly North Potomac Collision

Police say they will soon confer with the State’s Attorney’s Office about filing charges in the case

By Andrew Metcalf

More than two months after two Wootton High School graduates were killed in a single-vehicle collision in North Potomac, police are wrapping up their investigation.

Police plan to meet later this month or early next month with prosecutors in the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine what charges, if any, should be filed, according to police spokeswoman Rebecca Innocenti.

Calvin Li, 18, and Alexander Murk, 18, were killed in the June 25 collision. The driver, Samuel Ellis, 18, suffered serious injuries in the collision, but survived. A 17-year-old front passenger, who was not identified by police, also survived with minor injuries.

After the collision, police said alcohol and speed may have played a role in the collision. Police said the young men were coming from an underage drinking party in North Potomac before the collision and that alcohol was found in the vehicle.

Innocenti said Friday that police will also be discussing with prosecutors whether charges should be brought in relation to the party. She also said any information about the role alcohol may have played in the collision will be released after detectives meet with prosecutors.

Police Captain Tom Didone said at a press conference the day after the collision that the car driven by Ellis was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a tree and fence on Dunfief Mill Road. The vehicle came to rest upside down in the driveway of a residence.

Police said Li and Murk were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Ellis, who graduated from Wootton in 2015, was the starting quarterback for the school’s football team.

In an unrelated, but similar case, an 18-year-old from Brookeville, Austin Hall, was sentenced to an 18-month jail term Thursday after he pleaded guilty in July to vehicular manslaughter as the driver in a collision that killed a 15-year-old Sherwood High School student on Labor Day weekend in 2014.

In that case, Hall reportedly lost control while driving 119 mph on a road in Olney with a 35 mph speed limit and hit a tree and light pole, according to The Washington Post. Shawn Gangloff, 15, was killed in the collision, which happened after the boys left an underage drinking party less than a mile away, according to the report.

Start jailing the parents who provide the alcohol/party venue, and we'll see a precipitous drop in teenage drunk driving.

If you think that the majority of teen alcohol is provided by parents, you are clueless. I'd say dangerously clueless.
