Hi Stephanie!

For those who aren’t familiar with your work. Are you still making fun of autistic children these days?

https://wjla.com/news/local/stephanie-lundquist-arora-candidate-running-republican-gop-fairfax-county-school-board-race-drops-out-laughing-autistic-student-meeting-singing-national-anthem-controversy-7news-reporting-nick-minock-harry-jackson-youngkin-glenn-fcps

I think the current SB members are not smart and pretty bad at making decisions, but are THESE the kind of people people are saying we should have voted for instead? Complete and utter disasters of human beings?

It's a cut-and-paste on your part at this point. I know Stephanie Lundquist-Arora is highly partisan and not especially credible, but then Rachna Sizemore-Heizer paraded her autistic son, an adult at the time of this "performance," before every possible audience to promote his musical career. The man is a talented musician, but objectively not a good vocalist. If he'd been introduced as autistic, perhaps the reception would have been different, but instead the local Democrats quickly capitalized on the reaction for political purposes. The whole situation was icky from beginning to end.

Yes. I remember when this happened. When I read about it, I found the video of them. I can understand why they laughed. There was nothing to indicate the young man was special needs. It just kind of bizarrely showed up on the end of the video of the SB meeting and it was a pretty awful performance. The singing was discordant.
They could be criticized for lots of reasons, but this was not one of them. The whole performance was strange. But, nothing to indicate that the performer was autistic.

It doesn't matter if he was autistic or not, it was in bad taste to laugh at a student that was performing.

He was an adult. He looked like an adult. He did not appear to be a student.

How about we just not make fun of anyone?

Right. Because making fun of an autistic adult is so much better. Local republicans are just, wait for it, deplorable.

1. No one introduced the performer.
2. He was an adult and looked like an adult
3. The performance was awful.
4. No one told anyone that he was autistic.

Rachna is the one who should be shamed for putting her son on that stage.

Franklin Farm currently feeds into two high schools, but they might now feed into three?

Make it make sense...

It’s not just Tuckaway - they also proposed doing that to Hidden Meadow and Thorngate on the east side of Franklin farm.

Sending them to Westfield, as well?

I sure hope so. But they listed “keeping neighborhoods together” as the first one.

The part of Franklin Farm zoned for Oak Hill will most likely end up at Skyview. Sending the Crossfield and Navy island parts to Skyview would keep that neighborhood together. But RIO cares more about perceived prestige than neighborhood cohesion.

That would indictate that there is no cohesion.

Split feeders are awesome.

Oh hey selfish RIO parent who cares only about their kids’ non existent sports prospects.

But but lacrosse!! Swim team!!!

Doesn’t Skyview have a swimming pool?

They should but now Navy Oakton kids are getting rezoned there because Franklin MS is suddenly getting an elementary school that hasn’t been there in years and has priority apparently when they could just stay at Carson. Proximity doesn’t matter to these folks (they’re willing to commute all the way out to Oakton) so explain to me why should they all get moved over to Franklin while Navy kids will be split to different middle schools?

Really. I agree that there is difficulty with avoiding a split feeder. If Crossfield stays at Carson, then Oak Hill will stay at Franklin. Oak Hill is pretty certain to go to Skyview.

Honestly, Oak Hill and Crossfield should be at Carson/Skyview. Put Fox Mill at Hughes when AAP centers are in every middle school.

I would set Skyview boundary. Adjust Westfield on the edges and leave it be for a year or two. Then, work on the middle schools, if needed.

Franklin has been a split feeder forever--at least thirty years--maybe more. It's not optimum, but it is only two years.

Maybe fix the middle schools when the AAP centers are eliminated. But have a future end goal.
