It’s all cyclical. If the program can’t get girls committed to top schools, they run. Metro’s 2025 class is spectacular and special and won’t happen again. Unless you want to go to Ohio Wesleyan, don’t bother with Metro. Husel has lots of D1 commits. Problem is over the past 4 years, these commits don’t play much, for the most part. Many D3 schools’ tuition is still cheaper versus a D1 “scholarship.” Keep that in mind. Club playing time in front of college coaches should be a priority. If your DD is at the bottom, change clubs immediately. Wolves and Freedom can be a far ride for the Nova players. Hammers and Xtreme are viable options.

Very astute observation. It's cyclical for sure. And I think all the exodus to Wolves is going to be interesting bc they are not all going to be on the "A" team. There are established players, families, etc. there.

As for D1- all fair points, as well.

For Husel, they've had lots of D1 and D3 commits. And they announced another accomplished coach on IG for their winter season.

Accomplished coaches can be expensive. Expect husel’s winter fees to go through the roof to pay for her.

That's a family decision, then. And none of your concern.

Next Level and Wolves appear to be the "hot" clubs at the moment after the exodus of players from Metro, Mustangs, and now Husle. And while the club may be happy to field as many teams as possible, sometimes they do not have enough coaches and space can be an issue. Older girls are practicing later and later to get available space and/or a coach that likley had to coach other teams at earlier times.

Indoor is good for improving speed and ball control.

So many other clubs that are better. Don’t despair though - more than likely Next Level will field 8 teams with 12 on each U16 roster. Next Level is a business and they will gladly take your checks!

Name some better clubs in the DMV. There wouldn’t be 90 kids coming to the NL tryout if there were better options.

90 girls showing up at tryouts for every club across the DMV is correct. Seen it with my own eyes at several clubs. The sport has grown exponentially and there’s no slowing down anytime soon. Indoor is expensive and requires a lot of traveling and commitment. Girls have burned out in one season. They are soon replaced.

NP and sort of newer to sport. How is indoor different than outdoor in the spring? (You say girls burn out in one indoor season)

NP. Indoor is a faster game played on a smaller, hard surface court with boards on the sideline to keep the ball in. You can use the boards to move the ball. The rules are different, the goal is a bit smaller. You play with five players and a goalie. You need different shoes and a different stick. You also need at a minimum a left handed glove, but I recommend both. While there are some similarities, there are differences in how you play the game and the skills.

There are a limited number of buildings with a hard court for playing indoor in this area. Freedom runs a winter tournament series, Meadowbrook holds tournaments and there might be 1-2 other local things at randoms facilities. So you can stay local and only go to these things, but there are also opportunities to travel. This is something to talk with the clubs you are considering about.

Spooky Nook hosts the national indoor tournament each year for u16 and below. U19 play in Richmond.

Metro has open spots available on their indoor teams. I guess their reputation has scared away the masses.

How many U16 teams are there?

Wondering the same thing…

Better based on what criteria? Again, not every girl is in the same spot developmentally, and not all girls have the exact same goals.
