It’s positive to you. A troll is someone who posts something they don’t care about but says it to fire people up. This person doesn’t have loans. I did have loans and I worked hard to pay them off and am working hard now to pay for my kids college. I have skin in the game. The troll has no real stake in this other than to try to appear benevolent. Well the troll can donate to some other scholarship program with the trolls money. This Biden give away is being funded by people like me who paid back our loans and are saving now and pay hefty taxes too.

The modern student loan recipient is unencumbered. But yeah. Call my state school, living with family, working 2 jobs to cover tuition because the federal loan wasn’t enough butt a spoiled brat.


Right now we, my young adult DCs and DH plus friends, parents are dumbfounded. All want a check or tax credit per student for this freebie. And for those who went to grad school or do STEM and are over the income limit? And if in public service category and paid back the money? While a slug did not?

One said - should ask for a pay cut to get the 10k!

NP, but I feel frustrated by this too. I paid my loans. I was responsible. My degree was in Accounting and I became a CPA.
Society would collapse if everyone chose their degree solely on the money making aspect. We genuinely NEED artists, teachers, child care workers, sociologists, therapists, researchers and other lower earning careers. Pretty much all jobs benefit society in one way or another, not just ones that pay $X after college. If everyone got a STEM, law, CPA, medical etc degree, there wouldn't be enough jobs to go around and now we'd have a bunch of "deadbeat morons" with huge debt and no job because those markets would be saturated. All education is good education.

Cutting from 10% of disposable income to 5% will increase the interest portion due to more payoff time. So not sure if this will help anyone.

If MDS, Nurse practitioners, and physician assistants work five years in an area with little to no medical help, I would be in favor of forgiving all of their student debt. The same for teachers. No other graduate degree loans should be forgiven.
