I can't believe someone is on here complaining about pathways being announced or not. Pathways are BS. What difference does it make either way?

The ironic thing is that FVU feeder clubs are not the strongest this year (with the minor exception of perhaps Valor ... crazy I know!) Also, McLean is doing a better job of keeping there top U12 players from leaving like the 2013 girls did... will they keep them all... probably not, but I wouldn't expect a mass exodus. So what that creates is the perfect storm for the top team 2014 girls from GFR. They are a strong solid team and have no alliance or pathway and there is a local ECNL club in need of 2014 talent. I think a vast number of these girls could make FVU. It's a step up from a broken up RL team and way better than that miserable commute over the bridge.

Is the 2014 girls team hoping there is some magical pathway that allows them to both stay together and play at a higher level? That makes no sense. Isn’t this the age where a lot of teams break up due to some kids making higher level leagues? The only places this doesn’t happen are clubs where the top team is ECNL, GA, or MLS Next. You can’t get upset that a few players are being looked at by an ECNL team. That’s just how this works for the clubs that too out at RL. You lose a few of your best players and if your kid isn’t good enough to make the higher leagues have to figure out whether to stay or maybe find a better RL team if you think yours will be too depleted.

This is kind of a bizarre response. The point being made is that the local ECNL club is a legit option for many of the GFR girls. It's an open ID session and something they could explore.

Yes I understand, no need to say it again. I’m sure they have already thought of this. Just seems like some people posting here are acting like it’s not normal for a few players to be considered for a higher level opportunity before open tryouts, like the whole team is supposed to get that opportunity together. But that’s not how it works even at the clubs with so called pathways, and some (most?) will always end up “left behind” on the RL team.

It’s not normal to announce to everyone in a townhall that a pathway is coming in a few weeks to then turnaround and covertly feed players to either the same or a different pathway, nobody knows. You can frame it however you wish to fit your narrative but this was not transparent and shady AF. Then to find out on a blog thru former players doesn’t sit well with ppl. Maybe try some damage control now.

This is a false account of what was said at the town hall. PA said she was aware of the interest in a pathway and was working on it, and hoped to have news soon, but it was complicated and the timing wasn’t within the clubs control or predictable. Seems like you heard a guaranteed announcement in the first half of February 2026. That was not said. And very unrealistic given PA had been ED for all of a couple months.

And as has been repeated ad nauseam there is nothing shady about kids going to practices as part of a team’s look at a kid. This happens everywhere and if you really think transparent open ID sessions and open broadcast to current teammates about every step are how these teams are built you are a bit naive and it makes me wonder if you are still a u-little parent, perhaps someone who wanted her team to go to another club but was out voted.

I don’t know if there’s any truth here about anyone getting a look (my DD is not interested or trying to make a move) but if so good luck to any of the girls hoping to make a move to an NL team anywhere, BSC, FVU, or elsewhere. It’s a testament to development of younger players at the club, and to the kid’s dedication, if you make it. I’m glad they’ve had coaching that understands what it takes to perform at these levels.

It’s tryout season so it’s not surprising this is when girls would be getting a look. Not shady at all. Do you think they should wait to tryout in July or September or whenever pathway issues are finally ironed out, after teams have already been formed?

Nor do the coaches have any incentive to not push for any player they think is ready to make this kind of move. Feel free to talk to your coach and have a frank conversation like an adult, or go to an open ID at whatever clubs you’re interested in, if your kid wants to make this kind of move but I suspect your DC’s not actually at that age yet.

This is not a false account at all. PA said there would be an announcement before tryouts.

No, she said she hoped to be in a position to make an announcement before tryouts, but that the timing unfortunately wasn’t entirely within the club’s control and it might take longer.

Way to twist word. People know what they heard.

She absolutely did not ever say that there would be an announcement before tryouts.

Pick your story and stick to it. You said before she said it but things happened making it out of the club’s control and now you’re saying it wasn’t said at all? A quick search on this forum indicates otherwise.

Uh, how do you know who posted what before and that this was the same person? Everyone here is anonymous lol

They also mentioned a pathway being in the works that they hope to announce before the tryouts.

+1 but stop feeding the troll. It is so over the top obvious that it is one person with a lot of time and hate on their hands posting and replying to their own posts over and over.

No, she said she hoped to be in a position to make an announcement before tryouts, but that the timing unfortunately wasn’t entirely within the club’s control and it might take longer.

Very much agree with what you are saying, however there is a good chance that the new ED was not aware of what was/is happening at the time those comments were made at the townhall. At the time of the townhall she was only a few weeks into the job.
