from our experience the non beauvoir C form is usually head and shoulders above those beauvoir boys. Way better at math, typically, and there is always the joke that you can tell the beauvoir boys because they cannot open their lockers themselves.

the other boys come from everywhere, depending on the year but typically you see public schools (DC, MD and VA) and then also some privates -- we had boys from Concord Hill, WES, NPS, St Patrick's, WIS, Potomac, among others. Entry for 7th and 9th is also huge, with many coming from privates that end in 6th or 8th or public schools too.

By middle of the year, no one cares by the way who was at beauvoir and who was not.

The entering C Form (4th grade) has about 42 boys. Anywhere from 20-28 typically come from Beauvoir. That leaves lots of slots.

Not all the Beauvoir boys get in, not all even apply. Usually 5-10 do not even look at STA. then there are the handful that want to go butdo not get in, and then there are those who get in but also get in elsewhere and choose elsewhere.

Do not be discouraged if you did not go to beauvoir.

thanks, PP for your optimism. Do you have any sense where the boys from this year's C Form came from (other than Beavoir?)

A few from public school. One from WES and Grace Episcopal. At least one and maybe two from Concord Hill.

I know last year there were only around 40-50 people, which did not seem like very many boys at all.

PP did you get the sense that most of the kids completing the test last weekend were from other independent schools? We picked up late, so didn't get a sense of how many kids were there competing for those non-Beauvoir spots. Any idea of how many are applying?

Really, once you account for the Beavoir boys (and they are almost all admitted), there are very few spots for boys from outside.

You will not see the results.

Particularly if you did not take the WPPSI, you can assume that if he does get in, he did very well on the test.

By the way, coming from public shool may actually help. They always place a few in every incoming C Form class.

If most of the other C Form boys come from Beauvoir, and they always place a few public school kids in the new class, then what other schools do the rest of the kids come from (if anywhere?)

How did he do on his WPPSI?

Also, there is a writing portion on the exam which they weigh heavily. How does he think he did on that?
He doesn't have a WPPSI score. He only took the St. Albans test. Writing is something that he enjoys and he didn't have problems with that section, according to him. Usually the content is good though the spelling could use some work.

I really think that if everything else is good, they will downplay the test scores.

PP: From which school is your child coming? Wondering if he's a public school child, from Beauvoir, or some other private.

He's in public.

I think its a good think he's coming from public, and that in an of itself may put a positive spin on things. Did your DC say what types of questions were hard for him, or just that it was difficult overall? I remember hearing last year that some of the Beauvoir boys thought the test was difficult, but most of them got in. Lastly, are your DC's grades good? That may offset the test a bit too.
