With so few students and only 9th-10th, I imagine very few, with 32 student per class staffing formulas.
Don't be surprised if they relax the normal requirements where Skyview is concerned. Reid wants it to get positive publicity.

Certainly shifted the focus from the horrendous calendar.

Why is everyone totally perseverating on Crossfield and middle school AAP yet nobody is curious about what FCPS intends to do with the building besides keep the Swimming Pool.
They have no plans outlined whatsoever.
As per what I saw earlier, other school districts publish their plans despite security concerns, and FCPS has done so with every school on the Queue as of recent, including Centreville and Falls Church High Schools.
LCPS and APS also publish school schemes (to some extent), with plans for the new HS-14 and Park View replacement posted, and plans for the new Arlington Career Center are also published online, and I think also for Dorothy Hamm Middle School too.
So where’s Skyview’s plans, huh?
Does nobody have a morsel of curiousity?
No renderings either.
Maybe because this thread is about the boundary discussion, and we aren't trying to let you get off topic yet again so you can complain more about this neighborhood school you tried your best to prevent from happening. Start your own thread if you want to gripe.

Somewhere along the way, they have said (maybe at a work session?) that they would turn the two shell buildings into classrooms. I would assume that would come prior to 2027 start of school. That is not a particularly big project. Businesses adapt buildings frequently.
As far as the swimming pool, I have no idea. I don't think that is at the top of mind right now as getting classes up and running and the building prepared for that is far more important.
At one session, they mentioned offering lifesaving classes to 11th and 12th graders as. I think, an Academy type program, but I'm not sure how that works.
I think there is more going on than your realize. Maybe, those parents who have been to the sessions about the school can tell us more.
That’s the building I’m more concerned about than those two shell buildings.
I’m not worried about it. They have a few years before the school is at full capacity. It will be ok.
They are going to use those large shell buildings for classrooms and the like, which means that they shouldn't have to make many changes to the main building. At least, that is the plan. And if they get those buildings up and functional by the end of next year, they will have plenty of space for the students so that the construction is less disruptive.
They might close in atrium/amphitheater type spaces in the building to yield more floor space for classrooms.
The main building also has an additional gym they don’t need which could make way for classrooms also, or to be used as the Library or Cafeteria, as there is no proper FCPS style library or cafeteria in the current state of the main building.
But we don’t know.
The shell buildings being classrooms is great and all, but it’s great to have students under 1 roof rather than 3 roofs.
My high school was an open campus in California, it wasn't a big deal. The school is still an open campus. The distance between the shell buildings and the main school is not that different then the distance between Carson and the furthest trailers. HS can handle the walk and all of the school that the kids are coming from or would be going to have trailers and out buildings the kids use.
Maybe but it shows all the money being spent on security vestibules elsewhere is largely for show if they are going to have a permanent, three-building campus at Skyview with people regularly walking from one building to another. And they can put a lid on claiming they just have to redistrict other kids to get them out of modulars, when the upgraded shell buildings will serve a similar purpose.
Those buildings will be easier to secure because they are permanent. I would expect that they will have a plan for supervising kids during passing times. I doubt that they will allow kids to leave the building outside of passing periods.
But yes, the metal detectors are theatre.

Reason we don't know is they don't have designs at this point. They let an RFP for design services for the conversion in March with multiple bidder responses in April. As of the May 5th SB meeting, they were negotiating fees with the "top ranked" bidder.
