Other people besides feds exist in DC. Especially near the convention center, which has a conference right now (as it does most weeks).

Not sure. I think it's will put a lot of pressure on Rs to come to the table. Not because Ds won last night, but the way they won
That might actually lengthen things. Centrist Dems seemed close to an agreement to reopen with minimal gains and now the left flank will probably have more ability to push back.
