“The Ropucha class, Soviet designation Project 775, is a class of landing ships (large landing ship in Soviet classification) built in Poland for the Soviet Navy. The ships were built in Poland in the Stocznia Północna shipyards in Gdańsk. Designed for beach landings, they can carry a 450-ton cargo. The ships have both bow- and stern-doors for loading and unloading vehicles, and the 630 square metres (6,800 sq ft) of vehicle deck stretches the length of the hull. Up to 25 armored personnel carriers can be embarked.“

(Interestingly, a lot of troops have also been evacuated due to frostbite.)
Who wouldn't take off the boots and socks and put the feet outside for as long as it took if sent to participate in this bull crap?
You think this is Klinger situation?
I dont. Between the lack of fuel, expired rations, lack of rations, lack of water, dry rotted tires, lack of communication equipment, use of conscripts and cadets, and kevlar without the armor plate the idea that they werent given warm socks seems very plausible and likely. The frostbite reports, which come directly from intercepted Russian troop comminications, also mention that those with frostbite are not being treated or sent to field hospitals.
