Main reason is talent consolidation. Quicker mastery of and execution of high level play with deep rosters

Highly likely the split will continue. The reasons GDA was taking on water aren’t there for GAL.

Does not address the main problem which is splitting up the competitive talent and weakening the overall landscape with dilution.

IMO almost all these deluxe top clubs are corrupt money grubbing con artists across ALL leagues.

But consolidating the players is progress .

Regardless...always watch you players back and those of her team mates at all these places

It won’t be the same not even slightly. Hey best of luck to the new league!

So the the DPL only appears to have a division in the Southeast, Frontier. and West. Will they add a Mid-Atlantic or Northeast? The letter says nothing about that.

According to their social media. The formal rollout will happen later next week. Hopefully the announcement will include all committed clubs and league formations. In the current press release they did mention that the league will be the same as the DA except they will allow girls to play high school soccer and the substitution rule has changed to allow more substitutions.

DA was already taking on water before it was terminated. They then lost two of the best teams in the country when SD Surf and Real So Cal went to ECNL. It is a pipe dream that GAL will be anywhere close to the same level of competition as the old DA, but I know those clubs will try to sell it to the current players.

The reality is that it is over. The best players from FCV, Arlington, MU, and BA will all go to ECNL clubs, and any remaining girls will play with some new, but lesser quality, teammates in a lesser league.

Not one player has left FCV, Metro or Arlington. If a new league keeps these same clubs as well as the other DA’s what is the rush to leave? Colleges went to the DA showcase and if only the name of the league changes what is the real difference?

If you believe no players/parents from FCV, Metro or Arlington are not in the process of securing spots on local ECNL rosters, you are insane.

Arranging a backup plan is not the same as leaving. As more and more DA’s sign there is less and less reason to leave .

Some will and some won’t. Same as any other year. There’s no overwhelming reason to leave if the clubs and coaches remain constant from GDA, which is true for the lost part especially in this region.

Actually the letter does imply they will expand geographically:

"Since the news breaking of the demise of the DA, we have been inundated with requests from clubs to expand the DPL from all areas of the country."

Agree with the comment on ECNL regretting IF the parents buy in and stick around with the ex-DA (now GAL) clubs. If that happens, the elite structure will remain fractured and not much changes.
