DP. This. The whole thing was created to get revenge for Hillary being under investigation by the FBI for her emails. If Trump was ALSO under investigation, days before the election, then that would hurt him at the election...enough for Hillary to squeak by with a victory.

The thing is, the dossier was mostly factual information. Around 70% of it was independently confirmed by other journalists and investigators. Another 10% was found to have minor, nonsubstantive errors. There is another 10% or so that may have genuine questions as to their veracity - That's what Barr is pursuing now, however even those don't make any of the other proven things go away. That said there is also around 10% that was never proven nor disproven (the pee tape).

Also, it wasn't the sole basis for the FBI investigation. They had a number of other leads and reasons for probably cause even without the dossier.

But that said, remember that 34 indictments came out of the Mueller investigation, and there was a lot more that they were held back from pursuing.

Yet the Trump camp falsely tries to portray ALL of it as being completely false and completely fabricated when that is not at all the case.
