This armchair CEO garbage isn't going to cover up the fact that a federal government employee publicly threatened to take major punitive action against a private company in order to censor the speech of their employee. Conservatives used to find this scenario appalling and completely against the Constitution.
But Kimmel spread a hurtful lie that he easily could have fact checked, had he stepped out of his bubble. He wasn’t even telling a joke, he was making a political speech.
It wasn’t a lie - the MAGA crowd had been trying desperately to make people believe that the murderer was part of some leftist group starting when Kirk’s body was still warm. That was their number one priority.
Also, this should go without saying but comedians are allowed to make political speeches just like they are allowed to tell jokes in America.

He is a leftist, though. People weren't wrong.
+1. And your employers don't have to keep you.
That is true.
However there are rules/laws in place that do protect people from being unjustly terminated.
And these laws exist to protect people from unfair practices, etc.
These laws exist so that people can enjoy the rights (vs. privileges) that are due them.
Based on his comments, he could easily have been fired for cause.
What —exactly— about his comments would easily support “cause”? Yes, I’ve heard the comments and read multiple opinions about them.
looking at his ratings? Poor performance.
Kimmel was trying to prop up the lie that MAGA killed Kirk. The same lie that the moderator here tried to persuade us to believe, and had to say he was wrong.
He lead in his open monologue that the people on the right doing everything they could to say the shooter wasn’t like them. He was not joking, this was not a joke, he had to know how raw the country was on Monday night, and to use his monologue to spread outright inflammatory discourse like that is unacceptable. To use his medium to confuse and mislead people is unforgivable. He had a battery of writers and producers, and no one flagged it. He and they knew what he was doing and did it anyways because he thought they were untouchable.

Anonymous wrote:What is the reasoning behind the FCC claiming what Kimmel said was false? Kimmel said:
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”
The murderer is “one of them” in that he literally came from a pro-MAGA /Trump family, raised by MAGA parents. According to Wiki, “Robinson's family are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Childhood photos show the Robinson family on trips to shoot guns and see weapons displays.” Aren’t there photos of the killer with a Trump t-shirt on?
“Robinson's grandmother said the entire family are Republicans and Trump supporters. Robinson's mother told prosecutors that her son had become more political over the last year and had started to lean more to the left, becoming more pro-LGBTQ rights-oriented and growing "increasingly radicalized and isolated" in the process.” Just one year. But for 20+ years of his life, his upbringing was MAGA and his expertise with guns was MAGA-influenced.
If the murderer had been raised by a Democrat/liberal family, had turned MAGA for the past year and then murdered Kirk, don’t you think the Republicans would be singing a different tune and calling the murderer “one of those liberals”?
On the “political points” part of Kimmel’s statement, even Tucker Carlson warns against spinning Kirk’s murder for political purposes: https://people.com/tucker-carlson-warns-against-spinning-charlie-kirk-death-to-target-free-speech-11812920
So is the complaint against Kimmel that what he said was in bad taste? If that’s the case, someone needs to take a look at Trump’s entire Truth Social feed.
