They got pretty cozy quickly in the short time she worked there. Leads me to question did he know her before and creat this job or did they attract from the start?

Total double standard.
She’s the head of HR (literally and figuratively …lol) and broke every rule in the manual. Perhaps, the only one she didn’t break is that he wasn’t a subordinate. Even legit dating a co-worker (when the parties are both unmarried) is frowned upon.
She’s a nightmare. Nobody can be reprimanded or take orders from her at the company from here on out. She’s 56 and been in the biz 30 years.
