I did enjoy the Pittsburgh references of this episode. Froggy’s was a bar/restaurant where young Rebecca and Jack enjoyed and did exist on the 80’s. Also, the Eat n Park chain restaurant (kind of like a Denny’s) and their smiley cookies.

What? No, they didn’t. Not with Sophie. The flash-forward was of Kate’s second wedding but we didn’t see Sophie.

Planning to, yes, but then she changed her number, implying something had happened there. I think she's probably still single.

I think their close bond developed later, and I think that's fine. Love is clear for all three even if the specific nature of bond might differ with each child.
I'm glad you pointed this out and that the show is portraying it.
Me, too. It's a rare dimensional portrayal of how maternal-child bonds form and evolve over time.
