After the past week, and hundreds of thousands of people out protesting and rioting, any talk slamming people who want to end the lockdown and go back to work will be ignored.

I’m sure you said the same thing about these protestors:

Yet there was no significant rise in cases after these protests, nor rise in deaths as a result.

Hopefully the same will be said about the riots/protests.

The numbers started to rise before the protests, concurrent with the many states "opening up"

So it’s ok then to go en masse to protests, right? because woke is more important then transmission?

When you open an economy in stages, you can do your best to keep rise minimal and the vulnerable safe. When you have people gathering in masses screaming, shouting, stealing, and rioting, you have an uncontrolled situation.

What does this mean? What’s a YOY diner?
Do I gather this is about the same rate as we’ve had already (100k in 3 months)?

We are at 100,000 deaths in 2 months and that is with social distancing and shutting things down. Given the likelihood a vaccine is a year away, and that things are "opening up," it is highly likely the US will be well over 500,000 deaths and closer to a millon before a vaccine is available.

Enjoy the salon!

I remember seeing these scenes at Chicago O’Hare, Washington Dulles etc and thinking we are going to have a ton of cases in these metro areas with major airports because of this.
Such an impulsive decision. It could have been managed better

And testing and tracing

What else is inaccurate - population size?

It calls Louisiana and Maryland both Democratic states. Both have split governments with legislatures controlled by parties opposed to the governor, but they're obviously switched between the two states. There's no rhyme or reason to make them both "Democratic" beyond trying to get the numbers the poster is looking for.

+1 Louisiana has a Democratic Governor but voted for Trump. Maryland has a Republican Governor but did not vote for Trump. Trump never shuts up about winning Pennsylvania and Michigan yet they are in the D column. This is obnoxious cherry-picking.
