My child actually attends Wheaton and it is full. This summer they will be converting an open area into classroom space to accommodate demand. For at least the past two school years, Wheaton has been the 2nd most requested DCC school in the choice lottery, behind Blair and ahead of Einstein. Eighth graders are literally warned during the choice process not to get their hopes up about Blair, Wheaton, or Einstein because there are so few spots available.

What PPs are saying, though, is that by the time Woodward opens for WJ students, the enrollment at WJ is going to be so high (I've seen as high as 3,500 by 2025 predicted), that there will be little, if any, capacity at either school to take students from other high schools.

I'm looking at P-K area and don't want to be rezoned to Einstein. Woodward I can deal with.

I’m zoned for rock view and don’t want to be rezoned away from Einstein. I don’t like the idea of a long bus ride to Woodward

If you think there is no difference between Einstein HS and WJ right now then any boundary change won't make WJ different.

If you think there is difference between Einstein and WJ right now then Boundary change will make a big difference to WJ.

Have good looked at a map?

It's WJ losing neighborhoods to the new Woodward HS.

And WJ gaining NEW $ development residents (like the the radio tower acres off of Fernwood Road).

Demography has more weight now in any boundary decisions. BOE won't be making WJ and Woodward too different and that means WJ and Woodward, both will take elementary schools from DCC in equal proportion to balance demography.

WJ and Woodward are so close that boundary can be drawn anyway to balance demography.

You do know that WJ isn't going to receive any more kids or any kids from different ESs, right? Woodward is being built to take kids from WJ and either Einstein or Wheaton. Einstein and WJ are already at capacity.

Also, by this PPs logic, if the boundaries change then WJ will become a "worse" school and Einstein will become a "better" school (at least according to Great Schools). Yet, these "the sky is falling" posters will NEVER tell potential buyers to buy in the Einstein zone, even if you follow their logic Einstein is going to start getting kids from Kensington-Parkwood and other WJ ES districts, which would of course raise Einstein's GS rating and increase home values in Einstein, especially close to the Metro.

Because they never advocate that a smart investment for home buyers would be buying in Einstein given this logic, you can tell they're either trolling or don't even believe what they're saying.
