I'm not sure if Obama called the families or not. We know that he did not call all of the families. He never called General Kelly after his son died, and Kelly said that he was right not to do so. Kelly recommended that Trump not call because Kelly had experience with these calls, and they rarely go well.
Was General Kelly's son married? If so, the spouse would have received the call, not the General.

Not sure what all the fuss is about when there are about 100 things this moron is doing that we should be fussing over. Also, that congresswoman is a raging lunatic. And I never knew the proper pronunciation of Niger until now.

Yes, the same way we were when out last President didn't call the families.
President Obama and president bush both called the families of our fallen heroes and they both spent countless hours meeting with them privately and also spent countless hours in Walter Reed with our injured soldiers . The Obamas most favored charity (the charity they gave the most of their private charitable donations to)was Fisher House which assists the families of wounded soldiers and Michelle Obama and Jill Biden made helping military families one of their top two issues on par with the campaign to reduce childhood obesity. President Bush still spends a lot of time with the wounded veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. There are accounts of him respectfully listening to family members expressing anger towards him. He never once said anything against Cindy Sheehan a Gold Star mother who spent years camped outside his ranch at Crawford in protest. Obama and Bush did the right thing but they did it in a low key way and they never ever made it about them.

That's true, but it is not true of special forces such as green berets.
He wasn't a green beret...
Group Support Command. Would it have been 3rd GSC? He was a mechanic and was probably a driver for the team that day. But that's just an assumption on my part.
I'm aware of that he was not green beret. But he was taking part in a green beret operation. I guess one must be very explicit when posting here.
But did he sign up to take part in a green beret operation? Did he really know what he was getting himself into?
Absolutely. The military does not spring special forces operations on unsuspecting troops.
Well they kind of do. Anyone can be assigned to the support command if they need that MOS. The Army just puts you where they need you. My spouse was in a GSC Signal detachment and had no idea what the unit even was until he looked it up. He loved it and enjoyed his time there, but he that was just where he PCSed to.
That's a completely different situation. That was not a special forces operation.
He wasn't special forces though. He was a mechanic, attached to a team, probably driving for them. They weren't expecting any "trouble", that's why the slow response. He wasn't out there on some covert mission.
For the upteenth time, we know he wasn't special forces. But the mission probably was covert. We don't know what his role was.

I don't want to hear another word about the petty take a knee given how this president is treating a gold star widow.
The troops were there due to ‘bring back our girls’ Michelle.

The troops were there due to ‘bring back our girls’ Michelle. Furthermore, this widow has no right to information that can compromise future missions and potentially get others killed. I understand she’s grieving but she’s being led to believe she has a right to this information. The media and Dems should stop using her.
