Brits are the only people who laughs at HYP. If you don’t believe me, check out William Buckley’s talk at Oxford. During his introduction, the moderator mentioned one of his books, God and Man at Yale. You can hear oxford students snickering and laughing at this little country bumpkin from New Havens.
Yeah this is laughably out of touch and plain wrong. Oxbridge are fine, but they’ve been outpaced by their American counterparts since at least 70 years ago. They’re basically crumbling outdoor museums and a vestige of a once-world power that’s been on the decline since 1945 but is too embarrassed to admit it.
Obama’s daughter went off toHarvard and the first thing she did was to hook up with British royal, following the footsteps of Markle. Oxbridge kids can come and pick up anyone they want with their accent. HYP bumpkins go over there and the first thing they try to do is pick up British accent.
Turns out Melia’s boyfriend is a distant cousin to someone whose father was some sort of a housekeeper to the royals. That’s his connection to the royals. That tells you where HYP stands in relations to the UK. HYP is the only elite in the USA that has a chance to be snickered and laughed at in the UK. Stanford and MIT don't have the recognition even to be targeted.
