No matter how cool and regular they act, deep down they all harbor some notion of -- my life began when I had DC -- OMG it's SO meaningful; and I'll fight to the death for my DC bc you don't understand she REALLY is special, much more than any other kid ever -- and I don't mean they'll fight in a health or welfare kind of way but in a "dammit you owe it to my snowflake to not disappoint them, let them be a brat, or give them whatever accommodation I feel they deserve."
Seriously -- even my peers, friends, coworkers who seem to be "go with the flow" parents let it be known in small ways that their family is THE BEST. And when you don't act that way and parent in an "old school" way -- i.e. I'm here to feed/clothe/shelter/love but I don't need to entertain you or always tell the school my kid is right and I am allowed to have my own life still -- then I'm not a loving parent. In reality I'm the way parents were in the 60s or 70s, and I feel like current parents have lost their ever loving minds. I seriously have ONE friend who behaves the same way -- also a very traditional view -- but [gasp] she'll have an adult conversation and make it clear that little Aidan is to go play and not to butt into adult talk . . . .

Are you a Boomer or Millenial?

um, no. this stuff goes back thousands of years. It didn't start right after wwii.
I don't disagree that it added to/intensified tensions. But the way that country has conducted itself in the region has, as well.
There are so many parts of the world filled with strife, though. Much of it having nothing to do with Israel.
You should watch the documentary series that Showtime did just recently about climate change, Years of Living Dangerously. There was a fascinating couple of segments on syria and how a lot of the fighting there is due to a drought and poor farmers with no options.

I'll see your tasty McD's and raise you an "I actually like Arby's."
I'll see your McD's and Arby's and raise you an "I like both of those plus Wendy's... jr. chocolate frosty, yum!".
I'll see all of your bids and raise you an "I like McDonald's, Arby's, and Wendy's -- but Burger King is delicious and their satisfries and food tastes the best out of all 4 restaurants."
