Whether you agree with the feasibility of Zohran's policies or not, he ran on a platform of helping the average person. Ask yourself why that is such a threat that the Dems are supporting 3rd party candidates. Ask yourself how they would've reacted had Bernie pulled the same crap. Ask yourself why we're discussing stripping him of his citizenship and deporting him. Ask yourself why both parties are terrified of a candidate with a platform to give something to regular people instead of more handouts to corporate donors.

Hopefully this will open some folks eyes to the reality that our entire political system has become hostile to the very people it is supposed to represent, and that it is not in fact red team vs. blue team, good vs. evil, etc. In reality, it's a bunch of rich liars serving the interests of even richer people and lying their pants off to you about it. One person comes in rejecting those rich people, saying he wants to help regular people, and the system wants him destroyed.

His victory was based on college educated male voters and higher earners. Blacks and Hispanics and lower income voters broke for Cuomo.

I think the freak out is over the fact that he espouses luxury beliefs. For example, yes, rent freezes are great *for people fortunate enough to be in rent stabilized units* but it is accepted consensus that rent freezes are terrible for everyone else and overall increase the cost of housing.

His proposal on corporate taxes carries the potential to either drive out business or be inflationary as corps pass the tax cost to their customers.

His policies are likely well intentioned, but just misconceived. They are Bill de Blasio 2.0 and will be interesting to see them play out.

That's not true. Cuomo won poor and higher earners. Zohran won the middle.

It seems like he's working with smart people, and they are open to trying things and shifting strategies if they don't work. I'm sure their policy ideas aren't merely a rehash of policies already known to not work, but Cuomo and Adams' definitely are.

Nope.

He and his official party are full on Marxist socialists. Dont bother with BS posts here anymore. He’s not doing anything new from the Marxist angle. He’s new.

You know what’s socialist? Public
Libraries. We can all tell that you’ve never used one, so kudos to you for sticking to your ignorance as a belief system.

Public roads, public schools, public bathrooms, and police are socialist too.

I am worried about the safety and well being of Mamdani. When you have a group chat of New York's billionaires and elite conspiring to deal with him, who knows what the result will be.

Anyone can get a rent stabilized apartment in NYC. Right now.

Here's over 200 apartments on the market that are rent stabilized:

DP. Public libraries use public money to make private content available as a common good. Yeah , that's socialism. Maybe you need to visit a library.

LOL. It isn’t easy to shift from policies that don’t work after you give your voting blocs the policies they wanted—even if they fail. We’ve lost generations of kids because idiot socialist west coast education “Experts” wanted to move away from phonics-based reading instruction. It took the desperation of Mississippi to finally break through that lunacy after decades of failure.

And yes, many of his polices are already known to fail. Silicone Cwlley started setting up in NYC about a decade ago. No surprise that Bay Area style progressive policies are now migrating to NYC. I’m sure it’ll be different this time.

How do you not understand that Mamdani can't do much of anything he has promised. He has no ability to raise any tax other than property tax, which would hurt the middle class and make the top 5% flee NYC--and they pay a significant % of the income tax. NY constitutionally has to balance its budget. He will have to take services away or decrease from the very people who actually use them. He (and his team) are creating a fairy tale and getting politically unsophisticated people to vote for him.

It works though! His goal is selfish— to get elected off falsities.

Most politicians are not able to do most things that they run on. Only when it's Mamdani that's somehow "selfish"? He is sharing a platform, vision, discrete goals. No one is able to accomplish it all.

And in interviews he has been very clear that he is flexible..if some policy doesn't get results or fails, he will try something different. People like to hear that kind of honesty--that something might not work but it's at least worth trying.

He’s advocating policies (rent caps and freezes) that anyone who spends a second reading about knows makes the housing situation worse. I’m not ok with that.

He won bc he did the loud, catchy AOC thing in a very similar district as she did, wore a suit, smiled, and brought professional lighting & photographers everywhere he went.

Oh, and he filmed himself screaming at ICE in March.

ICE sucks and people hate ICE and it’s the right thing to do, so yeas, he did that and it helped. He did a popular thing in standing up for people.

You think this is a bad thing for a politician?

Sorry whats his stance on illegal immigration and all of its problems? (Crime, safety, black market, hospitals, public schools, housing, city budgets)

He has outlines that, you are free to educate yourself. I was responding to a low information poster that specifically referenced ICE.

I was an enthusiastic Kamala voter and voted for Hillary over Bernie but this reaction now is making me really hate the establishment. He won this nomination fair and square. He is authentic and talks about really specific ideas that address voter concerns, talks econ policy, and shares who he is. He is the opposite of a packaged DNC candidate. But that is actually resonating with people, at least for this city. He makes me excited for a new generation but the old guard is not going to make it easy.

He must have AI bots bombarding chat rooms.

Enjoy!
