I had no opinion before, but after reading all the evidence I have the camp of people who believe Burke did it. I know there's not enough evidence for a court of law, but too many lines point to Burke in my mind.

1) His strange and emotionless behavior in the video interview with the psychologist. I know some kids show odd behavior but this was reallllly odd. My kid, at age 4, showed more distress when discussing her dead cat.
2) he previously hit his sister with a golf club hard enough to leave a scar, and a family friend said he was prone to anger issues
3) his scatolia and the fact that they found a candy box belonging to his sister with his feces smeared on it. This is not typical, healthy behavior for a 9yo
4) the pineapple bowl and clear glass had his prints on them and JonBenet had eaten fresh pineapple matching what was in the bowl

6) I do not see how he could be cleared on the basis of DNA evidence when there wasn't enough DNA evidence to implicate anyone

The ransom note is one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen. If Burke did it, we can only conclude that Patsy wrote the note to deflect blame on an outsider. But why on earth is it so bizarre and rambling?

But your kid isn't on the spectrum, right? Pretty normal for a kid with HFASD.

I grew up with a severely brother autistic brother, almost non-verbal, and he never beat me with a golf club or smeared feces on the wall or on my things. It's quite likely Burke is on the spectrum from what I've seen, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have other severe psychiatric issues that made him a danger to his little sister.

The golf club seems like such an overreaction. Siblings fight and hit each other. This isn’t really that interesting if that was the one incident from a few years prior.

+1 Same with the feces smearing. One recorded incident, nothing else confirmed much less proven.

Yeah, this is my problem with this case is that there’s so much conjecture and rumors out there. You can go on one Reddit thread and he had a major problem smearing feces, but then you go on another and it was a one time issue and the box of candy was never tested and could’ve been chocolate… So who knows how extensive his issues really were.

It’s the same with the rumor that there were three people talking on the 911 call. People keep saying this, but the only actual recording I found online is the one where Patsy hangs up and you can hear her say please help me Jesus. Which actually seems like a rational thing to say in the situation. I’ve never heard recordings that sound even remotely like there are other people talking. I’m not denying that this is true, but where are they?

At this point it’s hard to know what were rumors that got out of hand and what are facts.

I think the defamation cases that were won or settled are really telling. It seems the Ramseys have been successful with those which makes it seem irresponsible of those writing books and making documentaries saying things like Burke did it. It’s all conjecture and no one knows.

I agree that the smearing feces thing is reported very differently from different people and probably no one really knows for sure at this point. The 911 call, with a man and a child talking in the background, is actually fact. We have better technology to hear background noises in that call now than we did then. You can find links to it all over the internet and listen for yourself- to me it is chilling. I think what patsys saying is still unclear (ive heard help me Jesus or what have you done etc) but the man and child are definitely there

Can you post the site where I can hear this? I’ve seen multiple transcripts, but I have never been able to find actual audio for the public to listen to.

It’s in the last documentary from cbs

The audio claims are nonsense and CBS paid out a settlement for that piece

They settled with Burke out of court. I think that's an important distinction. They did not admit to any wrongdoing. And the audio claims are one of the few undisputed things about this case, along with her having eaten pineapple shortly before her death, the duct tape being placed over her mouth after she was already dead, and clothing fibers from Patsy's clothing being on the garotte and the string around her wrists. So many other parts of the case have people stating one thing or a different thing and expert opinions vary, but the audio recording isn't really one of them.

John took a sleeping pill or whatever and we all just overslept. We realized we weren’t going to make the flight, (I’m still unclear if it was a charter plane or a commercial flight but either way they could’ve just made arrangements for later in the day.)

Then decide to just let the kids sleep and have a lazy morning. Seems like that would’ve given them time and space to get rid of the body. Maybe John decides to use the extra time to get some hours in the office before the afternoon flight. He leaves, to drive to work but really to dispose of the body. I’m sure and how that size they had a garage. They could’ve put the body in the middle of the night without anyone seeing. Then with his new leisurely morning with the flight delayed, he gets up and drives to work or drives to dispose the body. Remember, this is the area before surveillance cameras, and rain cameras, so maybe your neighbor sees his car but no one is really tracking his whereabouts.

He uses whichever staircase they don’t find the note on. Which gives them more time to not find the note. Then Patsy gets up a little bit later to wake the kids. Sees JB is missing, she’s frantically searching the house and finds a note on the staircase that they don’t use as often. Calls John frantically, he tells her to call the police.

Sorry… Should say this is the era before surveillance cameras, and ring cameras.

Exactly exactly. The family did not do this. Yes, the pageants were a bit creepy but not all that unusual in southern culture (and not unlike many moms I see pimping their kids on social media) and yes, it’s crazy to think someone broke in and harmed a young girl, but there are serial killers and sick people in the world unfortunately. This has so many indications of a fetish type sick mind, and that just isn’t anyone in the family.

If they had killed her and wanted to cover it up, there are so so many other more plausible explanations and scenarios they could have concocted.

After JonBenet’s body was found, the police sent them to hang out at a hotel while police processed their house/crime scene and to wait there to be questioned by police. The police had already been advised to treat them with kid gloves.

John initially insisted that they keep their scheduled flight for that day, as they were going to celebrate Christmas with his other children. I find that VERY odd. His child was murdered in his own home and he wants to leave town??

It’s actually way worse than that. They were scheduled to fly on their plane to Michigan that morning of the 26th for a quick second Christmas with John’s children from his first marriage. Obviously that didn’t happen.

Once jonbenets body was found, the police officer at the house overheard John on the phone around 1:40pm making arrangements for the family to fly to Atlanta that afternoon or evening. He informed John that he couldn’t leave town and would have to stay to assist with the investigation and John told him that there was a meeting he “couldn’t miss.” John’s older children showed up within the hour and they all left to stay at a local friends house since the police had by then secured a warrant to search the home.

So yeah, he was making arrangements to get the family out of boulder immediately after jonbenets body was discovered.

It was revealed that John Ramsey never had a private plane and that is more false rumors being spread. He cleared that up in the documentary. The investigative reporter was interviewed and admitted he heard that from a source but didn’t confirm it and printed it and he regrets it.

John Ramsey did not have a private plane. His net worth was estimated to be about 6 million at the time. That’s good money but it’s not private plane money. Even in the 90s.

Um, they chartered planes. They did not own one, but still flew private. John was scheduled to co pilot the family’s trip to Michigan on the 26th, and they had been to Jefferson airport to pack the plane with some things on the 25th. John was overheard talking to the pilot trying to arrange a private flight to Atlanta shortly after jonbenets body was discovered and he insisted he had an important business meeting to attend there. This is all documented and not stuff of rumors. That’s wild if this is even being debated.

His older kids were flying commercial that morning to Minnesota and then connect to their vacation destination in Michigan - they were going to have to rebook a flight to Denver upon getting to Minnesota. In fact, John’s pilot called mid morning and offered to meet the kids in Minnesota and fly them back to Colorado so they could get there quicker. John declined, likely because he wanted the plane available to him, which turned out to be the case because several hours later he was trying to get to Atlanta.

This is so dumb. Just because he may or may not have been thinking about going to a business meeting- probably not- does not mean he killed his daughter. Have you ever actually met a CEO? They tend to be singularly focused on work. Doesn’t mean he’s a killer. Grow up

LOL. So he was focused on going to a business meeting in another state minutes after his young daughter was found murdered? While he was supposed to be in Michigan with his family at their vacation home? I don’t get how people are so ridiculous jumping through hoops to make this family seem innocent.

First, that claim is nonsense. Second, it really has nothing to do with it, and doesn’t prove anything either way. Trying to assess someone’s guilt or innocence by how you think they should react is stupid

It’s not nonsense - it was documented by the police officers (witnesses) who were at the home that day. Arguing over facts -not speculation - is infuriating.

But a lot of it is nonsense. One of the main investigative reporters in Boulder at the time admitted that while the usual course of action is to check every fact with two sources, people just blew through that to get the story out quicker because there was so much national attention on the story. He admitted that a lot of what was said about the plane and the details around the travel arrangements were just wrong. And he apologized for it.

I’m just not sure how you can prove that any of this was true or what the Ramsey‘s were doing about their travel arrangements. If you say one thing, I can find another source that says another.

If they wanted to fake the kidnapping, why stage her body in the house? Even in a moment of stress and panic, they would be know that she would be found quickly in the house.

And tbh, they dont seem dumb. They would know they that they would need to slink away and dispose of the body somewhere else

I think if they’d moved the body, there was a chance even one person would have seen them leave the house with a suitcase or a bag in the middle of the night and drive off. Or, they’d see them returning. Remember this is Christmas night- parties, etc going on. If anyone saw their car drive through the neighborhood that night, they’d be screwed.

Sure. But that just makes it more confusing that they would leave a ransom note when they knew her body would be found within hours. the ransom note only makes sense if they planned on removing the body. And the fact that John isn't dumb, makes me think he wasn't involved in the note. Maybe Patsy, but even then, she still seems smart enough to figure out the note is stupid when the body is in the house.

In my opinion, the entire point of the note was to make it seem like a kidnapping. That's all. To throw suspicion away from the family. To make it less likely for the police to search the house, perhaps.

There is no way a 9 year old would sleep through all of this particularly when he knew he was getting up early to get on a plane. My kids would never, ever do this. Also, my 6 year old would be making noise if up in the middle of the night - two hours before she was killed according to the autopsy - having a snack below me. It’s all totally infeasible.

5) the toy train track marks on her body, the SA with the paintbrush handle, the strange and incompetent way her hands were bound all suggest a juvenile aggressor

But I see the evidence of the "cover-up" explanation. But one question I keep asking is: why didn't they actually remove her body?
