What’s going on? Positions are becoming open because of a number of reasons. Could be someone decided to quit. Maybe they are moving. Perhaps they are taking a different job. Who knows? It could also be that students are registering and the school now has the need for a new hire.
This happened to use a few years back, a few kids registered in early August and we have to open up another 2nd grade class (the others were too close to capacity).
One week there were no vacancies, now it is many vacancies, not just one teacher but many support positions, counselor, esol teacher, disability teacher...
Is there a counseling shortage too? Just counted 17 positions for the county
Yes, the ratio of counselors to students in quite large and many are overworked. They can probably make more privately.

Maybe the principal never told HR to post the positions. It’s pretty late, but if so, they’ve one the prize for procrastination!
That would be the epitome of incompetence.
Or maybe they were afraid they wouldn't get their yard sign![]()
Yes maybe they held out for the lawn sign and then once it was staked in the ground, they submitted the job postings. Suckers!

Just blame the principal, as usual.

Anonymous wrote:Most counselor vacancies are for part time roles at elementary schools. Elementary counselors are placed on the master schedule and are likely going to be asked to help provide childcare to students who can’t go home early on the early release Mondays. It is not a mystery why those positions continue to be open.
