This.
If the Dems end up with one or two more seats then Manchin and Sinema can go kick rocks.
LOL you all are misreading this again - just like you thought Manchin would crack on that stupid trillion-dollar proposal.
He’s throwing desperate Dems in midterms a lifeline to run on while passing a bill HE co-authored, named and stuck in not only pipeline legislation for but also a Coal Miners pension provision that benefits only his state.
Manchin not only got his pork, he ate it too.
I’m all for Manchin’s pork if it gets us Climate legislation and lower drug cost. But you can’t tell me this win will make him irrelevant because Dems will not only now hold the Senate, we’ll pick up a seat or two.
Next year we’ll close the carried interest loophole since even 1 pickup makes Sinema irrelevant too.

He lays claim to being a Democrat in one of the reddist of states even though he’s more in the mold of an old school chamber of commerce Republican. He protects his donor base in the coal and energy sector regardless of the environmental snd health impacts. So holf off on the sainthood.
Hey dummy the energy sector employs his electorate so he does what he was elected to do which is steward their interests. Biden should kiss Manchin’s feet because he prevented our buffoon president from dramatically worsening our already shitty economy.

He's not going to do that.
A) Their Black Lung rider is an easier add-on to any bipartisan legislation that passes in 2022. Will get both Dem and GOP support no questions asked.
B) The Black Lungs Benefits Trust only costs $2 million a year to administer, $20 million total for a 10-year extension. Otherwise everything is funded by an excise tax on corporation profits in the areas affected by black lung. Unlike the Squad he's not an idiot. Trading $20 million for $1.75 Trillion is a fool's proposition.

IMO this is what he wanted all along. It fits his sensibilities - a short low cost bill that targets taxes and increases healthcare access. The climate thing was a concession I admit but everything else? He got rid of 90% of the BS by standing firm for a year.

Dumb dumbs.
This has to go down as one of the biggest botched plays in politics. Dems could have gotten alot of their progressive policies passed if they weren't so do damn greedy with their non existent majorities. Im surprised there have no major repercussions for the people in charge (Klain, Schumer, et al)
