Miranda’s platform was obsolete the minute it was clear five days per week would happen in the fall. Mary’s was never about opening schools or not. Look at her webpage from day 1 - she was and is focused on all the other issues facing APS and our students. She addressed the school closing/opening issue eventually, but wasn’t campaigning on it because it’s moot by the time Jan 1 2022 rolls around. By contrast, Miranda had nothing else in her quiver when this all started. She has no track record of engaging in APS or APS issues, and pulled her child from the system went she wasn’t happy. This is not a candidate invested in the long term of APS. Despite ALL CAPS screaming by some on AEM, the caucus is not a referendum on opening schools.
Yeah, well, Diaz-Torres had no experience, either. And no, I don't count 4 years of Teach for America - or whatever it's called - in Nevada as experience for being on the Arlington SB. Anybody could put together the agenda Mary has laid out - it's merely all the key talking points and phrases with no specific proposals or solutions. I am an undecided voter between Mary and Miranda. But at this point, if Audrey Clement were running for SB, I'd vote for her without hesitation.
I follow both Turner and Kadera's campaign on Facebook, and was surprised to see an SR admin screenshot (I think you guys call her lawyer lady) in a pre-debate Kadera Zoom party. I thought Kadera was distancing herself from these parent advocacy groups? Yikes.

Someone has clearly been twisting his arm behind the scenes. There’s no way his did this under his own accord.
I was concerned with the tone of his email - I know tone can be tough to read in emails, but he seems aggressive about removing the distancing (perhaps in an effort to convince more kids to switch to virtual?). Ultimately it should be up to the parents to decide whether we are OK or not OK w/sending our kids to school w/out distancing. Hopefully he sticks with this message.
OMG. you people won't LET him do anything right. Be forthcoming! He's too harsh with his forthcomingness! Give the man one tiny little break!

Huh. I see it as more of a turnoff for voting for HIM. Don't think an aggressive supporter should be held against the candidate.
It’s not an aggressive supporter. He’s her campaign manager. She hired him to speak for her.
DP. Wow, really? You have to admit that's a good point. (Not that one couldn't attempt to weasel out of it. But still, sheesh.)
That said, I don't know what people are talking about even though I checked out AEM this afternoon and didn't seem to see anything weird.
Look on the KA post on 4/27 about family selection update (no distancing).
He spammed MT ads like a madman.
And previously posts were very aggressive and over the top.
He’s a liability.

Okay but that ignores the fact that APS makes terrible decisions and the school board doesn't step in on important policy decision. See: no new instruction last spring, no vote on RTS, no vote on Concurrent for 3rd graders, no vote on virtual academy next year, no vote on abandoning 3 ft distancing next year. That is not what happens in other districts. APS school board is alone in its utter disregard for accountability.
With all due respect, the structure of the APS school board does not allow them to vote on decisions that lie with Dr. Duran. They have different powers of what they are able to vote on and pretty much all of the decisions you are talking about we’re not held to a vote. The board and Duran have specific responsibilities and they can’t just “take a vote” on something that they don’t have power over.
Also, there is 0 chance of more days for students for the rest of this year. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Not changing. Move along.
