I do NOT put racists and bigots in the same category as those others. Racism is not merely bad or uninformed behavior.

Well people are arguing someone who grabbed a woman’s arm and knocked a guy over should get 30 years, so why would now be the time anyone is keeping things in perspective and differentiating between gradations of misconduct/criminality?

I haven’t seen anyone on here argue that Brennan should get 30 years. That number was mentioned on this thread only because it is the maximum possible sentence for the 3 second-degree assault charges he is facing. Most actual lawyers on here have said there is no chance he will serve jail time as a first offender, and I haven’t heard anyone on here voice outrage over that.

I’m somewhat amazed that anyone could watch that video and claim that the assault on the small girl teen wasn’t violent, and it’s clear from other sources that the boy was injured when he was rammed with the bike. But the injuries were not serious, and the fact that the man will surely pay some fines, has lost his job and been exposed as a rageoholic racist satisfies my desire for justice on behalf of the kids. I think that’s true of most posters here, though others will correct me if they disagree.

+1

It has become more and more acceptable to be a rageaholic. I am amazed more people don't get shot, actually.

Obviously, this behavior hits home for far more people than care to admit.

You know what? I admire his son, as (if this is a genuine statement) he seems humble and honest. Such admirable traits in this area, and at this time. He clearly did not learn either of those positive attributes from his father, and he owns his family's sh&t. That is a good man. Some people fail to escape the hate they learned in their families.

Why are you so scared about a racist who assaulted someone, getting 30 years? Ask yourself that question - honestly.

The fact is that those are 2 separate, intentional assaults.

Are you saying that was not a violent assault?!

But... after the women-hating Karen threads, it seems like a breath of fresh air that nobody here is putting this on all white men.

Huh? Have you not read this thread?

Seriously!!!

Is today like “opposite day” or something?

DP, but I read the thread and most of the generalized hate here is for white, middle-aged men who are cyclists.

In theory, yes, he could get 10 years for each count, running consecutively. In practice he will see nowhere near that, if he sees any at all.

I think a part of his sentence should be to work with minority high schoolers.

Please don't inflict this guy on minority high schoolers.

This!

Especially not in MCPS where they already have to deal with so much crap.

Unfair to use them to educate some privileged asshole.
