I know because I was at the women’s march 3 years ago. It was vile. I can imagine that same crowd of overweight middle age women are the ones who would be upset at minority famous women dancing on stage for 10 minutes.

Also, scantially clad? Both women had on outfits from head to toe.

Karens don’t like concerts with Latinx singers. Latinx singers put on a production. I took a friend to a Ricky Martin concert once and regretted it she was criticizing the dancing and the instruments the entire time. It was culture she just couldn’t get

One of the most feminist groups I’ve ever belonged to was in a rehearsal studio that housed classes on burlesque and circus performance. (I took classes in trapeze, Lyra, and contortion, and have rarely been in a more constructive, welcoming, respectful space.)

I applaud you OP, for making thought provoking commentary. It’s true, it’s not empowering women it is in fact degrading. Degrading to see a woman reduced to slabbing herself like a piece of meat for slaughter. Successful and accomplished men (ones that haven’t been sexually abused) don’t need to do this for attention.

We didn’t watch the Super Bowl because I had an inkling that it would be inappropriate based on the prior year’s performance. This thread confirmed my suspicions. Oh well. We will continue to find something else to replace the Super Bowl with. This year we grilled, played family games and pigged out on Super Bowl foods and then we listened to an audio chapter book as a family while roasting s’mores in the fireplace.

You need to ask yourself why do you equate hiding your body with respecting yourself. You clearly have been taught your whole life, socialized, that hiding your body is what respectful women do when they respect themselves. That is simply not true and it’s so ingrained in your way of thinking you can’t see it.
