It doesn’t make sense for any player to play up and be a sub if you ca be a starter in your own age group.
But players/families can do whatever they want.
Might as well play town/rec if you have no aspirations for playjng in college.
I agree with this from the view why pay all this money if your kid has no interest in playing in college. However if a kid wants to compete and their highest level possible then go do something else for college that’s alright also.
That being said your comment makes no sense based off what was being discussed?
Meaning if Aug birthday players intend to play in college they need to play on their correct grade in school team. If they dont college coaches and recruiters will ignore them.
All the BY September- December birth months college soccer players and current committed recruits are scratching their heads
Again in BY trapped players are playing up.There are no other options.
In SY Aug/Sept and sometimes Nov qualify for the grade down team. If they choose to play on that team they will be ignored by college coaches when it comes time for recruiting. The easy solution is for Aug birthdays to play up on their correcr grade in school team.
What a web we weave when we aim to deceive
Yep everyone can see that clubs are going to play August / September birthdays on their grade in school team.
Age guy is going to kick and scream even when it happens. Trying to convince patents to play their kids down. When a few of the idiots that choose to play down describe the difficulties that had to go through for college recruiting nobody will pay down anymore.
It's really youth soccer that's leading this AND telling people recruiting will be OK in these rare situations. It set up the rules this way, knowing it wouldn't perfectly align.
The rules are 100% setup so Aug birthdays will play on their grade in school team.

No deception -- it's just making a point by applying the logic of aug. mean-spirted arguments that attempt to shame and deride people for playing on age.
You lie and deceive every day trying to convince people to play Aug birthdays on teams where they're the only kid who is a grade older. No kid wants this. You want it for your ego and plastic trophies.
Yet you're the one thinking it's same people are posting all the time, even on other boards. They're not. There just explaining what's happening. Also, if kid's didn't want to play with younger grades, you wouldn't have HS soccer!
Nobody plays down in HS soccer unless they were held back in school. You play on an older team or you play on the team thats your grade in school.
On Senior night they don't call up all the Seniors from lower level teams to be given an award / acknowledgment.
If you dont make the team that's your grade you stop playing.

Internally ECNL leadership has been telling DOCs to roster Aug birthdays on their correct grade in school team. The entire push for SY was to align players with their grade in school team. Not to create a new issue where Aug birthdays play down a grade.
