We've never found Mary Cheh to be as brilliant as she believes she is, but in recent years it's become clear that Cheh is more stubborn than smart. She certainly no longer sweats the details, not just delegating them to her staff but relying on her staff to lead her. An unfortunate case in point is a meeting that she held with some constituents in Ward 3 on the impact of Comprehensive Plan changes several months ago. It became clear to the participants that she had outsourced the whole issue to her chief of staff (a member of the Smart Growth cult), who proceeded to hector her constituents and even walked back some of the statements that Cheh made. A fly on the wall would have confused who was the council member and who was the staff member.

Cheh should definitely be accountable for the environmental travesty of destroying a once shady, sylvan green space and turning it into a heat island. Hundreds of trees have been removed and a concrete complex has been built on the south side of Hearst. Once a carbon sink, Hearst has seen its carbon footprint increase substantially. Cheh owns this, and at the very least she needs to demand that DGS/DPR develop an accelerated plan to reforest the park, including the slopes!

I think your expectations for the "power" of a councilmember are severely misplaced.

It's really weird that you think that because I'm pushing back against your ignorance that I'm a Cheh supporter or trying to do her favors. In a healthy democracy, it's important for people to make well-reasoned decisions that are grounded in reality. Right now, you're mad at Cheh for something she has no control over. You're mad that she didn't do stuff. You're argument, after all the back-and-forth we've had, is still "I dunno, she should've done something!" as if that would've magically made things better.

This reason for being mad at Mary Cheh is not grounded in reality. You are, of course, free to hate her for irrational reasons - that's your prerogative. But you should not be surprised when people push back against your irrational views, and it's particularly odd that you think that people pointing out your sloppy "reasoning" are Cheh staffers or in league with her.
