The only Republican who represents a district along the southern border called on President Donald Trump to reopen the government without funding for a wall and restore the salaries of the U.S. Border Patrol.

“If this is a crisis, the people that are dealing with this crisis should get paid,” Rep. Will Hurd of Texas said in an interview on CNN moments after President Donald Trump’s televised immigration address Tuesday.

Hurd was one of seven Republicans who voted with Democrats last week for a bill with funding for roughly a dozen agencies and a continuation of the $1.3 billion authorized for fencing in fiscal 2018, but without money for a border wall.

Yes, vice interviewed 4 prison guards. They voted for Trump and are furious, like almost in tears.

Very sad situation. They are being put in danger.

Also the TSA union is reporting that workers are starting to quit and they warn that this could harm airport security

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/08/tsa-screeners-quit-government-shutdown-1087269

but 90% of government workers are Dems so who cares if the shutdown is hurting government workers. Trump sure doesn't.

So Trump isn’t President of Democrat’s? If a Democrat says “not my President”, Republicans after? I thought he was President of all Americans?

That is precisely what makes Trump so different and disturbing as compared to previous presidents, GOP and otherwise. He is completely partisan and tribal; he doesn’t care about Democrats or anyone who did not vote for him. This is something you see with the GOP more broadly at the state level. If you live in a district with a Republican Senator or House rep, they will literally hang up the phone / toss your letter / slam the door if you are a Dem. These aren’t leaders they are partisans.

Such a dangerous time for our country.

Trump is terrible but, to be fair, Democrats do this too.

They don't. Don't bring up false equivalences. Obama never behaved like this.

+1. GOP voters here never stop lying. Congenital liars, one and all.

-1 Modern Democrats: Party of Manufactured Fear. See Alabama Senate Race, 1994 Border GAO study for Operation Gatekeeper, Operation Hold-The-Line and something else I can't remember. Hypocrites. the lot of you.

This article quotes Gardner, Collins, Capito and Murkowski as saying they could vote for the Democratic plan to end the shutdown. When will Mitch allow a vote?

Only when enough Senators force him by tying up all other legislation and shutting down certain committees (ie judciary)

West Virginia has a lot of federal workers. The number of Senators who defect on trump is only going to rise each day.

Yup, more and more senators on the record proposing plans to reopen the Government.

Do you need some spelling tips?

No, do you need some history on border security tips?

News flash-the Border Security workers union is suing the Trump administration because they're tired of not getting paid.

No, do you need some history on border security tips?

Then you need some tips on civility like some Repukes I know. /s

They take their civility clues from Nancy and Chuck, the undertakers of the Democrat Party. /s

Not nearly to the same extent as Trump. And the problem when a President can't see over the partisan divide is that other politicians follow his lead, as there is no upside to trying to compromise. Its viewed as a sign of weakness.
