Just wow. The 05, 04 and 03 teams ALL needs major talent influx. To say otherwise is completely delusional.

To be fair, at least on the goalie side of things, having watched all the age groups play, I would argue that the 04 goalies (either of them) playing up to 02/03 are not a drop in talent/performance from the of-age keepers.


I disagree entirely, having been a goal keeper mysel in college. Both the 02 and 03 keepers are better overall - with the 03 keeper being exceptional. Better shotstopping, better direction from the back, and the 03 keeper has the best distribution. But in keeping with other posts, no one is under challenged when playing in their own age group.

Agree with that. Most if not all should play with their age group in the standard groups. The pilot is an experimental group and play-ups are OK there, especially if they want to integrate exceptional talent to keep as they move up to the standard age groups. A good tactic for that, actually.

What makes you certain rosters will be more selective? The same thing was promised last year, but it didn't happen. I also wouldnt say 05 and up are doing "pretty well" . The 04 team is a perfect example of an excessively large roster with a segment of players that shouldn't be playing at that level.

I read a negative comment about FCV's 05 players being robots. Didn't the team win state cup and isn't the A team leading the DA MA Conference? I thought FCV had several of its DA teams that will qualify for the DA playoffs. Didn't Emily Fox play for FCV?


The fact that McLean ECNL 05 was successful this year despite losing a ton of players to Spirit and Arlington is a testament to Clyde Watson's ability to recruit players.

In order for a club to be successful in this area they have to be aggressive about recruiting.

More selective rosters. If they had 22 ballers, that would be one thing, but they don't. So with what they have, they should pick their best 16 or so and develop the hell out of them. This means cutting some players. OR putting them on GFR rosters the opportunity to sometimes train or guest play with the DA.

The McLean ECNL 05 team is doing well in ECNL but that conference is not as strong as the NE Conference. The team did pick up a few players from the DC Stoddert team which was a pretty solid team, finishing as a semi-finalist in MD State Cup.

Why would CW go anywhere? McLean's ECNL program is the best in the region. One of their coaches was just named club coach of the year.
