Very likely that is what they want now, but its a response to the pre-emptive actions from Cherrydale community members making space for themselves at the expense of current Rosslyn students. A bit different; Rosslyn parents were part of the group recommending the Buck site, which is an inclusive approach to make space for all who want to attend their neighborhood school.
Absolutely incorrect. The whole Buck idea was originally thought of and advocated for those who live near the school. They were advocating to expand the school onto Buck last year during the Options and Transfer process, before the Rosslyn folks even understood what was going on. The fact is the Rosslyn/Courthosue crew is an angry and vindictive group who have said and done some really nasty things to several really good people. These same people who were ironically advocating for them. So sad.

Exactly they were advocating expanding the space for themselves — to accelerate the adoption of a walk zone. When that tied turned, it was the complaints about traffic and Rosslyn is already going on a bus, so send them to Taylor. We are just saying put the breaks on adding to an overcapacity school until 2021 when the system will have a clearer picture. If you add the Cherrydale walkzone, there isn’t space and someone has to be pushed out — do Cherrydale residents all hate Taylor this much to go to this lengths ; it isn’t like when they moved here they didn’t know the zoned school. Just be patient and chill.

No one is responsible for someone else’s (over)reaction. The Rosslyn people are responsible for their own behavior (as are the Cherrydale people). Trying to use the poor behavior of the Rosslyn community to keep Cherrydale under their thumb is inappropriate. Be better than that.

Also since Taylor is undercapacity next year and will be even more so if you move 100 walk zone kids from it, don’t you have to move people back into Taylor? The units that keep getting mentioned have around 250 kids. I thought Long Branch didn’t have that much space.
Really trying to understand the reasoning here, because it seems like one poster has a grudge against that neighborhood since this is the third post mentioning it by name. There’s one person who lives in the homes next to Market Commons who’s a strong advocate, so I’m curious if this is just a grudge against her and her neighbors or if it’s based on logic.
Pretty sure they won’t move anything into Taylor b/c all of NW and NE maybe shuffled, so Taylor’s has space now, but if Jamestown or Nottingham goes option who knows. It’s just ties their hand for the big moves.
But LB won’t be on table in 2021 at all.

I'm cool with the two phase approach. 2019 the Market Common neighborhood and the tip of Rosslyn and Rosslyn south of 50 move. 2021 the rest of the boundaries at the school are changed.
Is there a reason you are calling out those two neighborhoods as opposed to the parts of Courthouse that are not going to Stratford or the area north of lee highway that is surrounded by Taylor units?
There’s someone who seems very troll like who keeps mentioning the Market Commons and I’m trying to figure out if it’s an actual troll or a person with a grudge, or if it’s based on some logical thought.
The planning unit in Clarendon you are targeting is the one in the key zone that is closest to asfs, so it seems like a poor choice.

Distorting the facts really undermines your position. Last year when Cherrydale conceived the Buck expansion option no one was discussing boundaries. Cherrydale families were already in the school, so it makes no sense that they were "advocating expanding the space for themselves". When people moved to Cherrydale they had just as much of a right to attend the school as anyone else in the Team. Noah Simmon, former SB member, lived in Cherrydale and sent his kids to ASF, via the Team model. No one in Cherrydale ever advocated to have anyone moved out. A few cowardly psychotic misinformed people decided to get engaged last minute and demonize part of the school.
No Key zone was different than the other Teams, don’t distort things. Key had no non-Immersion option so were automatically accepted to ASFS.
Cherrydale wanted Buck b/c they were afraid they would be sent back to Taylor once Key was no longer had neighbor preference and ASFS population boomed.
Keep telling yourself that, but the facts do not support your position. Cherrydale was advocating for Buck before and AFTER the SB committed to "once you're in, you're in". No one is Cherrydale was or is concerned about being moved out. You are either ignorant of the facts or willfully distorting reality.
What are you talking about "once you're in, you're in" -- you mean the promise by the SB member at a PTA member who was then voted out of office at the next election?
Nope. The words of the SB chair and Superintendent during the options and transfers decision process. The same phrase that’s been reinforced multiple times recently by the current SB.

A Cherrydale centered PTA with participants who did not have students attending the school.
Further, that Cherrydale focused PTA were lottery parents; do think of the Rosslyn PTA members were advocating to the school board to remove lottery families, there would not have been a similar response?
Isn't that what Rosslyn PTA members want to do now? From what I've read on this thread, they seem to hate them all and want them removed from the school?
So sad.
