I hear what you are saying but Metro is the only club (I think Paramount sending 1 next year) that consistently sent players to the P5/P4 conferences; they have definitely earned their recognition. Metro should have done a better job of helping to grow the sport in the region. There is no question that there are talented players at other clubs but they hardly ever stay with their club (can’t blame them) and the talent is inconsistent.

Paramount has made tremendous strides but Metro still in its own league.

The CHRVA region seems to be getting better but most of the bids are in the American/Freedom division, which is no easy feat. Hopefully we could get some more Liberty and USA bids next year.

Metro and Paramount both consistently finish at the bottom of open? Metro is the 19th ranked club in the country and Paramount is the 88th. I’ll admit these rankings are far from perfect and have their flaws, but your claims that Metro and Paramount routinely finish at the bottom of open is Objectively false. Metro 14s and 18s have open bids. Paramount 15s earned an open bid at NEQ and double qualified in 18 open last year. Essentially all of Metro and Paramount’s teams have finished in the top half of every open qualifier they have done this season (both clubs have several top 12 finishes this season). Last year metro qualified open in 15s, 17s and 18s. Paramount 15s destroyed VAJRs 15 at Regionals (25-13, 25-14) and Metro would have likely done the same. That should show the difference between an open-level team and a USA level team. Everybody who is knowledgeable in the CHRVA region knows that Metro and Paramount are on a different level than all the others from a competitiveness perspective. That doesn’t mean there isn’t great training or great players at some other local clubs. It just means there teams are of a different ilk.

Here’s how it should play out.

Paramount has their Open bid, so their National Bid will go to the 3rd place finisher (VAJRS)

Metro 15 T: National Bid

VAJRS: National Bid (they earned a USA Bid at NEQ, so this USA Bid will stay with the CHRVA Region; their USA Bid will go to the next highest finishing team, MVSA)

MVSA 15 Charge: started with a Freedom Bid, then went to American Bid, now will have VAJRS USA Bid (since National Division is higher than USA)

MDJRS: had a Freedom Bid, but now will take MVSA’s American Bid

Premier Edge: had a reallocated Freedom Bid, which will now turn into an American Bid

This leaves two unused Freedom Bids, which should go to the next two highest finishers from Regionals (MVSA Wild and LEVBC).

Blue Ridge Blue 15's finished 5th in the USA division at NEQ.

Paramount VBC 15 Nick earned an Open Bid at NEQ

Metro 14 Travel earned an Open Bid at Show Me last weekend

MVSA 15 moved up to American Bid

Libero 14 Huskies earned a Freedom
Bid

Premier Edge 15 earned a reallocated Freedom Bid.

Paramount VBC 14 Cozad (Paramount’s 14-2 team) earned a Freedom Bid (I’m not sure the last time a 2’s team from the CHRVA Region has earned a bid to GJNC

Paramount VBC 11 Jaz and Paramount VBC 12 Jaz both upgraded to National Division Bids

It may (or may not!) be worth mentioning that Metro 18 Travel dropped out of Bid Regionals as well. To be fair, Metro 18s had already earned an Open bid to GJNC about a month before the Bid Regionals.

My DD tells me that all of the Paramount 18s players have college commitments (I presume that means they'll all be playing VB in college). I don't know if she has similar information on Metro 18s and other teams in the age group.

There was also a mention that the Paramount 15s got an Open bid at NEQ today. I'll wait for the USAV spreadsheet to get updated to see what that means ... as I believe another 15s team from CHRVA might be going to Las Vegas as the bids trickle down to Bid Regionals finishers.

They didn’t do Regionals. If they had done Regionals they would have easily gotten a bid of some kind (most likely 1st place). Not sure why they didn’t do regionals

It seems like last year’s Paramount 17s got an American bid to nationals and placed 13th along with MDjrs 17 and some other teams.

Is it correct to think that this year's Paramount 18s were last year's Paramount 17s (give or take a few changes)? How did the team fare as 17s last year?
