Allison Murphy (white) advised Sonya Larson (mixed) Ro weaponize Grub Street’s Writers of Color group to “draaaag” Dorland on exactly the basis you think you’re decrying! That’s phucked, it’s incredibly dishonest, and NONE OF THIS ACTUAL ISSUE has to do with the actual prejudice and racist treatment of Asians in the US.
I think the PP you're replying to was specifically talking about the use of "purportedly oppressed" to reference Asian Americans.

That is true and also irrelevant to this case. Twitter is full of people (POC and others) enthusiastically punching down in the most nasty high school mean girl way possible, and trying to pass it off as “woke” because the victim is a white woman. It’s gross and indefensible, and they deserve to be called out.

But Sonya brought race into this in an inappropriate way she claimed dawn was trying to take credit for a poc work which she wasn’t. She was rightfully saying Sonya plagiarized and was trying to stop the character assignation and humiliation that was taking place.

To be honest, with all of the additional details, Dawn comes off as completely normal and justified in all of this. Her only crime is that she was… what, exactly? Over-earnest? Maybe a little cringe?
