It is easier to assimilate if they do not have a huge Afghani population. Then there is less need to learn English or American culture.
A little different for Afghanistan with Taliban banning everything, but you can just watch foreign satellite service TV and read foreign language newspapers while shopping at groceries that cater to your food style.

I don't know about Dulles arrivals, but State Department and DOD has it somewhere around 5% who are getting out are American citizens.

I agree with a lot of this, but it's a little weird to call Afghanis "non Asian POC's". What continent do you think Afghanistan is on?
DP.. most people would consider them ME Muslims because that's what they look like. It's not about the continent where you are from, but what you look like. And of course, they don't like Muslims.
For reference, Middle East refers to the (non-European) countries which used to be part of the Ottoman Empire + Iran. Afghanistan is Central Asia, though it is sometimes lumped in with South Asia for strategic reasons.
