They are by no means poor, but if you have a SAH spouse and one parent making $100K, you really can’t afford to buy anything within 15 miles of the coast that’s safe and sizable enough to raise a family.
It’s especially tough if you grew up near the beach in a modest post-war house and always dreamt of giving your own children the same childhood experience.
So you rent a house you can never afford to buy. Their rental was a few blocks from the beach, which is pretty important for someone who runs a surf business. I know so many families who look just like the Coleman’s - white, good looking, Christian, enmeshed in the beach culture, a few cute kids on social media - who can’t buy anything. It’s a constant point of anxiety and marital stress.

In Santa Barbara?????? Try Huntington Beach, where are you from? Fresno??

Again, STOP blaming the mom when it's the dad who killed the kids and deserves the blame. Dad violently killed his kids. Not mom.

I’m not sure. Sounds like he had a mental break. This story is so sad.

You should be embarrassed.
Dude, he said he was “enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories.”
He’s most likely schizophrenic. QAnon is something his addled brain latched onto. It doesn’t mean QAnon caused him to kill his children.

Also he may have been on UI.
The question was about the wife though!
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Why was the wife not worried for 24 hours? I would go insane if my child’s dad took the kid and went without telling me. Where did she think they go?!
No idea. Maybe he was stressed about other things and she thought he would calm down and bring them back?
He/They drove a Mercedes Sprinter van but were renters in their neighborhood.
The house was worth $1.4M but they were renting while having sub-tenants (a man and his mother) in their garage. Strange dynamics of a couple perhaps living beyond their means.

Out of all the things to post about with this tragic case…
I’m from Santa Barbara. Their housing situation was not unique.
